Year 5/6 Writing Booster Pack
This resource contains ten year 5/6 writing booster lesson packs which can be used for individual or group intervention lessons. The writing tasks are also suitable for teachers to use to create short writing units for the whole class. Purpose This resource supports pupils who are working towards age-related standards by helping them practise writing and understand its process. The lessons are aimed at helping pupils to develop the skills specified in the KS2 writing assessment framework. What's included? The pack contains eight stimulating writing tasks which cover a range of text types enabling pupils to practise ‘writing effectively for a range of purposes and audiences’. Each writing task contains an example text and follows the format: analyse-plan-draft-revise and edit-share. The tasks are listed below: Four Non-Fiction Tasks * Write a recipe * Write an animal report * Write a persuasive letter * Write a review Four Fiction Tasks * Write a character description * Write a setting description * Describe atmosphere * Write dialogue Timing: Each writing task is set out in stages and will take around 2-3 hours to complete. There is also the opportunity to extend tasks through doing the further practice options set out on the PPT.
