Here is a set of activities I used with my Year 6 children to prepare them for any decimal questions they may get in SATs. I ran the lesson as a round robin activity, putting children in 5 mixed ability groups of 7. There are 5 activities which focus on children practising:
1) Multiplying decimals
2) Adding and subtracting decimals
3) Multiplying and dividing game by 10, 100, 1000
4) Converting fractions and percentages to decimals
5) Decimal word problems
My class absolutely loved this and it led to lots of very interesting discussions/findings, particularly when converting 1/3, 2/3 and 1/8 to decimals.
