Year 6 to 7 Transition Drama Scripts

A complete set of 18 linked mini-play scripts designed for Year 6 pupils preparing to move into Year 7.

This resource includes:

• 1 PowerPoint of Instructions to show to students
• 1 Instructions pack for Staff
• 18 Individual Drama scripts part of a ‘series’ of ‘The First Week’.

This resource includes instructions and timings on how to work this project. The project at its fullest can take up to two hours long, including break time tasks. All info re this is found in the instructions sheet.

The resource follows six recurring characters through their first term at secondary school, with each episode exploring an important personal or social quality, including:

• Kindness and friendship
• Respect and tolerance
• Resilience and confidence
• Inclusion and belonging
• Courage and responsibility
• Teamwork and communication

Each script is written for a group of approximately six pupils, making the resource ideal for large transition cohorts. The episodes are short, accessible and designed to fit within approximately three-quarters of an A4 page. Each scene ends with a dilemma or cliffhanger, allowing pupils to devise and perform their own ending.

The resource supports Drama, PSHCE, transition and pastoral provision while encouraging pupils to discuss realistic situations they may encounter when starting secondary school.

The full set is suitable for up to maximum 105 pupils working in 18 groups at one time, although individual scripts can also be used separately. You may also want to combine/merge others to make longer scripts.
