Audience: Year 7 (variable set's)
Source adapted from: Activate 1 textbook
Enclosed: Presentation, Practical and timed Activities, with end of lesson reflection.
Lesson duration: 60 minutes

This lesson is designed to follow an accelerated learning cycle. The lesson begins with a classic 5 min 'Starter of the Day' task drawing pupil interest to the lesson at hand. The Title and LO slide comprises of a keyword task to probe pupils and test their literacy skills. Main activities to follow are based on (i) a video, as well as pupil observations made following a short teacher-led demo, (ii) gap-filling task and (iii) choice task, all of which involve differentiated outcomes. A plenary (exam style question) aims to wrap up the key points from the lesson. Spare time at the end, as needed, for lesson reflection.

The Author has over 10 years’ experience of academic exposure (with a Ph.D Neurosciences in 2015 by Aston University), only having recently received QTS in Secondary Science. This was nominated as an 'Outstanding Lesson' and since been successfully used over three different Year 7 set's within an Outstanding state Academy. If there are any typos, inaccuracies or comments you would like to report – please free to contact me as all feedback is most welcome. The nominal £2.50 charge is for the time I've invested in making the presentation and all the attached resources from scratch. Credit goes to ideas and information I've managed to adapt from other fellow TES'ians where possible. Hope you enjoy this lesson.

Many thanks!
