A colourful, inclusive resource designed to introduce children in EYFS and KS1 to simple yoga movements in a fun way. This set 2 collection features eight yoga poses including Half Moon Pose, Child Pose and Camel Pose.
There are three versions of the flashcards, featuring children with different appearances and wearing different coloured outfits, making the resource visually appealing and offering teachers a choice of designs.
Each version includes an introductory poster, a set of eight yoga flashcards and larger versions of the cards, with two cards per page, ideal for displaying or using during group activities. A teacher information sheet is included, providing simple, easy-to-follow instructions for each yoga move.
These flashcards can be used in a variety of ways to support Physical Education, Personal, Social and Emotional Development, and topics such as ‘Ourselves’, ‘My Body’ and ‘Wellbeing’.
In PE sessions, children can practise the poses to develop balance, flexibility, coordination, body awareness and control. Teachers can use the cards for warm-up activities, gentle cool-downs, movement breaks or calming sessions after busy activities. The larger cards are particularly useful for creating yoga stations, where children move between different poses, either independently or in small groups. Children could select a card, copy the movement, describe how their body feels or lead their friends in a short yoga routine.
As part of wellbeing activities, the yoga poses can be combined with gentle breathing, relaxation and mindfulness to help children recognise their feelings, practise calming strategies and develop confidence.
