    Distance between two coordinates

    Lesson presentations and activities

    • Lesson on using Pythagoras' Theorem to find the distance between coordinates. Includes quite a few extended and reversed questions and should be challenging for pupils. If you like this resource then please check out my other stuff on here! :)

Great - short, clear and sweet with some interesting background info which you can take or leave, depending on time!

    • PPT looking at how to find the midpoint of a line and then using Pythagoras to calculate the length of a line between two points. Accompanying worksheet attached, as is an abridged version of the worksheet I set for homework.

    • A lesson that gets pupils to discover the formula for the distance between two points (length of a line segment). It was created for a year 10 group who have recently completed their linear GCSE and are embarking on the Core 1 AS Maths module. The PowerPoint contains more tasks than can be completed in a 50 minute lesson but might fit nicely into an hour.

Thank you for publishing your resource. It has been selected to be featured in a new secondary maths collection.

    • Treasure Hunt (Coordinate Geometry) based on idea from laura.reeshughes (thanks Laura - check her resources - brilliant). 24 questions involving finding distance, gradient & midpoint from a pair of given points.OOPS! Mistake on answer 14 (should be 10/3) - fixed 26/07/12. Sorry.

A nice set of loop cards as we used to say in our day.

This 'treasure hunt' style activity gives students the chance to practice calculating the distance between two point alongside other straight line topics, such as midpoints and gradients. Thanks for sharing!

    • Introduces how to find the distance between 2 points, and applies it to a map on a Cartesian coordinate grid (created on desmos.com/calculator)

This is great - love the map challenge!

    • A differentiated worksheet requiring students to use Pythagoras' Theorem to find the distance between two points. Silver and Gold sections require students to apply this to problems and proof questions.

Great resource; I added some axes to mine so they can start off by drawing to help visualise.
