Court Wordsearch Courts Law Literacy Starter Activity Homework Cover Lesson Plenary

Court Wordsearch Courts Law Literacy Starter Activity Homework Cover Lesson Plenary

Wordsearch on the theme of 'Court'. Powerpoint so can be used on the board or printed as a worksheet. Includes space for students to explain the keywords and suggested extension activities. Can take 10 minutes or an hour, depending on which activities the students complete. Ideal for the start of a lesson, a quick filler, a homework, part of a cover lesson or as a plenary on the board with a whiteboard pen. The idea behind these is to get students to become more literate and think independently about the words that could be used to describe the topic being taught. The repetition of the word over and over as they look for the word is useful in remembering the terms. Often the students will pick up on things that you would not normally expect!

Landmark Cases of the Supreme Court - Research & Presentation Project in Powtoon

Landmark Cases of the Supreme Court - Research & Presentation Project in Powtoon

This unit connects learning with technology to Social Studies. This is perfect for technology class or for use in a Social Studies classroom that wants to incorporate technology with a lesson. No download is required to use Powtoon (www.powtoon.com - a free product), making it easy for teachers who are not able to download software on classroom computers to still give their students a choice in learning. In this lesson, students are provided with a quick tutorial, as well as links to other resources to help them with their project. The tutorial is intended to help students get started with the program and then use the resources within the program to refine their creations. Students create an animated video presentation about one of the landmark cases of the Supreme Court after researching it. They use that information along with animation, characters and music (all supplied in Powtoon) to create a finished animated presentation that explains the case and adds their own opinions and insights to it. The project was created for grades 7-8 but could easily be used with upper elementary or high school students. Files Included with this Lesson • Teacher & Student Notes and Resources • Student Project Expectations and Grading Rubric • Getting Started Tutorial for Powtoon
