Bubble Writing - Handwriting Scaffold UKS2

(10)
Bubble writing - cursive handwriting scaffold Like many primary school teachers I have tried a variety of handwriting schemes with varying degrees of success. Having thought through many common problems with handwriting I have developed a simple scaffold that places a bubble either side of the line to support letter formation. This simple scaffold provides a guide to consistently form cursive letters and ensure each letter is uniform in both height and width. Children are able to leave equal spaces between words and see clearly whether or not there is enough space at the end of each line for the next word they intend to write. There has been a huge impact within my class in a very short space of time and I hope you will see similar benefits within your own setting. Included is a PowerPoint presentation including words from the Year 5/6 spelling list that can be printed as a handwriting pack for children to work through. Blank slides enable you to add words to suit your needs and finally 2 different sized PDF scaffolds that children can use to write on (If photocopied the bubbles will disappear to leave the writing that has been completed.)

All about me foldable activity for back to school first week

(1)
Get to know your class with this no-prep, all about me activity. This foldable printable is ideal for back-to-school or for an ‘about me’ topic and is a fun alternative to a standard worksheet. Print the template on white paper. There are 4 designs to choose from, each with the same prompts (please note that the templates are not editable). Pupils will need coloured pencils, a pen and scissors. Firstly, pupils will colour the top and bottom of the template. They can then fill in the boxes with words and pictures. The information they’ll need to complete is as follows: Name Age Left/right handed A place I’d like to visit is 3 words to describe me Things that make me smile I want to learn more about If I were an animal I’d be Something important to me Encourage lots of discussions! When the foldable is closed, it will spell ME. It can then be gently opened to reveal the detail inside. A picture showing how to fold is included, as well as versions of the templates for both US and UK paper sizes. Punctuation and SPaG Scheme of Work

(12)
Complete Punctuation and SPaG scheme of work for Key Stage 3 and GCSE. It’s time to win the battle against poor grammar and punctuation once and for all! Complete unit of work which will allow your students to master advanced punctuation as well as engage with a range of exciting creative writing tasks. If you are anything like me, explicit teaching/reminding of how to properly apply punctuation is ESSENTIAL for all ability ranges, especially with the new specification GCSE placing so much emphasis on AO6. These lessons are certainly geared more towards KS3 and KS4 students. Powerpoints are light hearted and fun, with plenty of images/colour and silly jokes to keep your students engaged and entertained. I’ve found these lessons serve as an excellent ‘crash course’ in punctuation either at the beginning of the academic year or in the run up to the GCSE exams. Below is a list of contents: Commas (£2 if purchased on its own) - Commas powerpoint lessons Commas in a list worksheet Commas in a complex sentences worksheet Colons (£2 if purchased on its own) - Colon powerpoint lessons Mastering colons worksheet Semi-Colons (£2 if purchased on its own)- Semi-colon lesson powerpoints Semi-colon worksheets (x2) Semi-colon writing success criteria worksheet Speech- (£2 if purchased on its own) Speech powerpoint lessons Speech worksheet Speech mixed practice worksheet Writing success criteria worksheet Editing and proof reading - (£3 if purchased on its own) Editing and proof reading mini scheme powerpoint (nearly 50 slides) Editing and proof reading worksheets (£2 if purchased separately) A wide range of proof reading worksheets that you can use to consolidate and improve your student’s SPaG and proof reading abilities after you have finished the unit of work. This unit would suit a range of abilities as there is lots of scope for stretch and challenge, with ambitious success criteria and extension tasks built in throughout. Scaffolding and differentiation options are built in where appropriate. Fully resourced and ready to roll, minimal adaptation or tweaking required. This is obviously a SPaG/Punctuation scheme of work, but it is equally focused on creative/descriptive writing too. Much of the content is therefore ideal for teaching general creative writing skills or preparing for the fiction writing task on the new specification (9-1) GCSE English Language exam. Grab a bargain compared to buying these resources separately. If you loved the resource and think it’s worth 5 stars, why not get another one absolutely free? Year 6 Arithmetic One-Page Tests x 12

Year 6 Arithmetic Tests with answers, written to fit on one A4 page. Based on KS2 SATs Arithmetic Papers. I use these tests as revision for my Year 6 class. After much searching, I couldn’t find any Arithmetic practice tests that fit onto one page (to save on photocopying!), so I decided to make some. Each test fits on to one page and comes with the answers. They are all based on KS2 SATs Arithmetic Test questions. The tests download in both PDF and editable Word formats. There is also a front cover, which I use when putting all the tests into a booklet, so my class can keep track of their scores improving. I hope you find them useful and it saves the trees/you some photocopying time!

A series of lessons looking at climate change and global warming. Lesson 1: Causes- what global warming is, what greenhouse gases are, are humans the cause, deforestation and fossil fuels. Lesson 2: Effects- data about climate change, sea level rise, ocean acidification, warming oceans, shrinking ice sheets, extreme weather events, effects on health and a graph drawing exercise. Lesson 3: Solutions- what can governments do, the Paris agreement, what businesses can do and renewable energy. Lesson 4: Solutions- what individuals can do to combat climate change. Likewise some of the tasks could be stretched out across several lesson depending upon the time you have. All worksheets/resources needed are within the PowerPoint as hidden slides.
