Unit 3.1 from Mira express 1 with a variety of activities

This resource includes a 30 slide ppt presentation I prepared to teach the new Edexcel International GCSE 9-1. It includes random activities to teach the topic of ‘the world of work’, some based on the textbook, some of my own creation. I have different bundles available on my profile for each textbook topic.

A 54-slide ppt which covers the relevant language to teach Module 2.1 Que te gusta hacer? from the Viva 1 textbook. Ppt contains plenty of vocabulary to give opinions and talk about free time activities in their infinitive forms at length. It also includes a wide range of adjectives to describe these activities and frequency, always going beyond what the textbook offers. It does not get into verb conjugations at this stage, however it does highlight the 3 different types of infinitives to slowly raise awareness for the next sub-topic. 2 different vocab tests also included. A ppt which covers the relevant language to teach Module 4.1 Te gustaria ir al cine? from the Viva 2 textbook. You will find plenty of vocabulary for students to be able to: talk about what places there are/aren’t in their city/town. describe them using relevant adjectives suggesting a plan and responding by accepting / rejecting using prepositions and times (time is introduced from scratch) to specify where to meet. Ppt contains vocab sheets if you print these for your ss; a vocab test and ideas to put all skills into practice, as well as a number of starter activities at the end of the ppt presentation. This resource includes a 35 slide ppt presentation I prepared to teach the new Edexcel International GCSE 9-1 for my Year 4 (10) group. As the textbook isn’t great, I created extra resources to combine with working on the textbook. What’s included: resources for Unit 2: Self, family and friends - at home and abroad, which at the same time includes activities for section: 2D Special occasions --> subsections 2D.1 and 2D.2 only, as I skipped 2D.3 On the notes pane you will find instructions. PLEASE NOTE: there is a listening activity taken from MIRA GCSE by OCR - it does not include the audio embedded. I have different bundles available on my profile for each textbook topic.

A 70-slide ppt which covers the relevant language to teach Module 3.2 ¿Qué desayunas? from the Viva 2 textbook. This resource introduces mealtimes and reviews telling the time; students then will practise talking about what they eat on a typical day and when exactly. An emphasis on tenses will be made to stretch high attainers. There are a good amount of starter/plenary ideas included, and 2 vocab test that can be easily adapted. Some activities for topics “Meine Welt ist wunderbar” and “Meine Sachen” only, included within Kapitel 1 “Meine Welt und ich”.

A straightforward ppt which covers the relevant language to teach Module 3.3 Que hay en tu insti? from the Viva 1 textbook. Ppt introduces school facilities and recaps basic adjectives to describe these. There are a number of activities included to practise the 4 skills. At the end of the ppt you will find a vocab test and a couple of starter activities on the topic. Check out the bottom notes on each slide - you will often find instructions to tasks.

A 60-slide ppt which covers the relevant language to teach Module 2.2 Cantas karaoke? from the Viva 1 textbook. Ppt contains plenty of vocabulary to give opinions and talk about free time activities in the present tense at length. It introduces the present tense of -ar verbs and frequency expressions to take their language up a notch. It includes tasks to practise all skills plus small vocab and grammar tests. This is a continuation / build up from Module 2.1, which you will also find on my shop. Check out the bottom notes on each slide - you will find instructions to tasks, and lots of links to kahoots and youtube links for your students to enjoy.

Viva 3 - Modules 1-4 retrieval practice starters for exam revision These are good to do as starters before a module exam is going to take place, or as revision before end of year exams. PPT contains 4 slides, 1 for module 1 - somos asi; 1 for module 2 - oriéntate; 1 version of module 3 - en forma; and 1 version of module 4 - reciclamos. Please note unit 4.3 is the only unit from module 4 I based this on, as we don’t teach anything else from that module, so if you want to add content from other units, you’ll need to edit the activity. All the other slides include items from each sub-unit within the module, ensuring everything is revisited. Each slide contains 12 questions ranging from very easy - easy - challenging - difficult for students to translate into either language, or come up with a short explanation / phrase. The harder the question, the more points they can take if they get it right. The idea is for them to do it at the back of their book / on a MWB. Answers appear on click. Allow at least 15 minutes of the lesson for it to be done properly.

You will find plenty of vocabulary for students to be able to talk at length about food & drink, say what they like and dislike and why, say what they like eating/drinking/having and why, a range of adjectives to describe food & drink, and the introduction of the direct object pronoun to stretch high attainers. There are a good amount of starter/plenary ideas included, and 2 vocab test that can be easily adapted. A ppt which covers the relevant language to teach Module 2.4 Qué hiciste ayer from the Viva 2 textbook. As the preterite tense was introduced a module ago, I created a range of mainly listening comprehension activities following Gianfranco Conti’s communicative approach. This lesson is thus very teacher-led at the start, engaging students in a different range of activities which go at a fast and dynamic pace. On the notes pane you will find instructions on how to conduct each activity. Answers also included.

You will find plenty of vocabulary for students to be able to talk about what they do on the internet / phone and how often, which goes beyond the textbook vocab list. Ppt presentation I created to collate some fun tried and tested activities to teach the perfect tense to KS4 students. It can be easily adapted to any ability group due to the nature of the activities. It provides an explanation of what it is (uses), time indicators, formation (endings) and main irregular forms. It then includes 4 different activities: a basic sentence translation activity, a never have I ever task to get your students standing up and down depending on whether they’ve done a number of things (18 in total), a differentiated die activity to do in pairs to conjugate verbs in the perfect tense or take it a bit further and ask each other questions based on the given verbs, and finally a list of 26 things students might have or might have not done before they finish school, to practise “ya” and “aun no”.
