Spanish Pupil Check In / Pupil Voice KS3

Spanish Pupil Check In / Pupil Voice KS3

After a recent Ofsted inspection our department has come up with a 'Check in System' in for pupils to review how they like learning. This form has worked wonders for us and has allowed us to get to know our pupils, especially our PP pupils (Pupil Premium), SEN & MAP (More Able Pupils) much better. It must be shown that all students are making progress (Especially since the introduction of the Progress 8 scores) From using these forms we have come up with strategies to help students who are not attaining or reaching their target grades and we have initiated intervention strategies. La Comida Rápida Actividades Fast Food Vocabulary Acivities

Two nice simple activities that relates to the topic of Fast Food. Word searches keep my lot occupied for ages! For lower ability groups I find these activities great for vocabulary recognition and for giving students a sense of achievement with tasks before moving them onto written expression tasks. There are other resources relating to this topic in my shop. Enjoy! Claddagh Classrooms. Clipart by Kate Hadfield designs

Spanish / French (MFL) Feedback Stickers

Spanish / French (MFL) Feedback Stickers

These stickers save me massive amounts of time when marking. I print them out and after students complete a piece of written work they stick them in their books. I tick the WWW section (What went well for the students) and I write an EBI (Even better if). These have decreased my marking time and have given students constructive feedback for them to respond to. I have attached the .pub file for editing purposes and the .pdf for easy printing Claddagh Classrooms

MFL Intervention / Action Plan for students

MFL Intervention / Action Plan for students

Tracking students and classes can be a laborious task. Also showing management the steps you have taken to help students who are below their expected targets can be difficult as often times we can forget the phone class we have made, they targeted questions we have asked in lessons etc. In our department we use these two forms: RED Action Plan - For those students who are below their target or expected grades but could improve and meet their targets with targeted intervention or support. AMBER Action Plan - For those students who are at their target grade but who could do better with targeted intervention or support. You simply fill in all necessary information on the template tables supplied and this offers excellent example of all the strategies you use to help your students and track each individuals progress. This are also excellent to show OFSTED inspectors. (We have recently had a full inspection) Enjoy, Claddagh Classrooms:)

Behaviour Goals / Targets

Behaviour Goals / Targets

As a department we use both these resources for students that need some extra attention at KS3 with behaviour. The first one is simple. Each individual teacher writes their own individual goals for their students and they monitor them each lesson. It is informal, in that, the class teacher does all monitoring and reacts accordingly with class sanctions and rewards. The second one is more formal. The student is monitored for a period of a week. At the end of the week, the pupil will report to HOD of department to get their report signed and will also get the report signed by their parents. In school we make a positive phone call home and give the student a normal school reward. There are two templates attached (One with more instruction than the other) All are in .doc format are editable for your own lesson / school needs.

An Cháisc (Gaeilge) - Easter Irish Display

An Cháisc (Gaeilge) - Easter Irish Display

Simple display cards to get your room and your students in the festive Easter spirit. My students love Easter! (It must be the chocolate!) and the display is nice when surrounded by students work. Alternatively use the activity attached also. I use these as a game first to introduce the vocabulary to my students. They are placed around my room and students are given a list of Easter vocabulary in English. They then have to find the Irish equivalent. It's nice to watch students discover the vocabulary themselves as opposed to looking at a PowerPoint and writing everything down in a vocabulary book. Once the lesson is finished they can go onto a display board. Please note this is a .pdf display only.

MFL Spanish Effort Grade Display

MFL Spanish Effort Grade Display

This is a really simple display for your class room or to put into students books at the beginning of the year. It lays out in simple unambiguous language a description of what 'Excellent, Very good, Could do better' and 'Unacceptable' effort looks like. It also makes it so much easier when you take up each book, rather can giving very detailed effort feedback. I ask students to respond by stating why they think their effort grade was awarded. I have included the original poster in .doc format for you to edit and also in .pdf format for easy printing:) Claddagh Classrooms

MFL Department Review / Learning Walk

MFL Department Review / Learning Walk

Following an OFSTED visit our department introduced this to review teaching and learning each term. Two members of staff do a learning walk, interview 4 students and fill in the form as the go. We then, as a department act upon the feedback. Following our recent monitoring visit, OFSTED are thrilled with the idea and it has now become a whole school initiative. I hope it works for your department! It is very much adaptable. Claddagh Classrooms
