An Cháisc (Gaeilge) - Easter Irish Display

(1)
Simple display cards to get your room and your students in the festive Easter spirit. My students love Easter! (It must be the chocolate!) and the display is nice when surrounded by students work. Alternatively use the activity attached also. I use these as a game first to introduce the vocabulary to my students. They are placed around my room and students are given a list of Easter vocabulary in English. They then have to find the Irish equivalent. It's nice to watch students discover the vocabulary themselves as opposed to looking at a PowerPoint and writing everything down in a vocabulary book. Once the lesson is finished they can go onto a display board. Please note this is a .pdf display only.

Ar an bhfeirm On the Farm Vocab Sheets

This wee booklet is good for vocabulary acquisition. Rather than giving students list of vocabulary and getting them to use it or just learn it, I like to scaffold for my less able pupils. I generally find with these tasks their retention is better. I then use these. I love using these type of activities for starters and plenaries too when we’re progressing to full sentences or fully written pieces. The .PDF contains: Two sheets sheet of farm animal portraits pictures where students can look up vocab or you can provide it. Unscramble activity using the new vocabulary. A fill in the gaps activity A word search A counting task using animal pictures (This also revises rules of bunuimhreacha neamhpearsanta) Any issues email claddaghclassrooms@gmail.com and I’ll resolve them within 24 hours. It contains notes on formation of the tense, a worksheet that accompanies the lesson and also a revision mat for the topic. The work sheets are in .doc format to edit and rework depending on your needs and also in .pdf. This ensures that when printing, all the worksheet is printed and none of the margins are missing. The worksheet contains 5 activities starting off with basic conjugations, to irregular verb conjugations to more creating new school rules. The first three activities can be used with weaker ability students to encourage using the tense while later ones will be a challenge for higher ability students.

Introduction All about Spain - Todo sobre Espana

Lovely lesson to introduce students to Spain. I usually use this at the start of each term with my students. It's nice to watch them discover all bout the culture and the language by themselves. I encourage them to research all about festivals & food. I generally find it is a lesson that they talk about and use as a frame of reference later on in the year.

TENER, SER, ESTAR Verb mats

My lower ability students really struggle with these three key verbs in Spanish. To help over come this I made revision mats for each one with basic information to help consolidate their learning. When teaching 'Tener' i usually teach plurals. That features on the Tener Mat. The mat for Ser and Estar have all the typical information you would normally see. I have included the .doc files for editing and also the .pdf files for printing.
