After a recent Ofsted inspection our department has come up with a 'Check in System' in for pupils to review how they like learning. This form has worked wonders for us and has allowed us to get to know our pupils, especially our PP pupils (Pupil Premium), SEN & MAP (More Able Pupils) much better. All student need to make progress (Especially since the introduction of the Progress 8 scores)From using these forms we have come up with strategies to help students who are not attaining or reaching their target grades and we have initiated intervention strategies. I use this resource with all my Junior Cert / Cycle classes (U.K. Year 7 - 9) It contains a PowerPoint that starts with a poem about Oíche Shamhna (Halloween) to set the mood. The poem is on the PowerPoint and also on a word document to hand to students. From here the lesson contains all the necessary vocabulary to speak about Oíche Shamhna (Halloween) as Gaeilge. After you have gone through the PowerPoint, there is a word search and also a crossword for students to complete. This is definitely one of my favourite lessons to teach and students love and engage with it!
