Fabric Paint & Applique Instructions

These learning mats are give simple instructions of how to complete a fabric paint sample and also a felt applique sample with hand embroidery. I use these with year 7 students, for their first Textiles rotation. Students sample these techniques and evaluate them. They then use the techniques on their POP Art cushion. These are useful for differentiation, helping to support students recall information and complete their techniques successfully. If you have any feedback please do review the resource. Thank you

This is an evaluation worksheet to be printed double sided. On one side is space for students to attach their sample and write an equipment list, step by step and WWW/EBI. On the other side are some scaffolded support statements and equipment lists that will help to guide students with their responses and add differentiation to the task. This is an editable PPT lesson, so that you can change the support comments to ones that match your techniques. This document focuses on Applique with hand embroidery and fabric paint. I use this for year 7 students. If you have any comments, then please do leave a review. Thank you

Textiles Knowledge Organiser - Year 8

In this year 8 project students make a bag that includes machine embroidery and mark making with fabric paint. Through the construction of the bag, students become competent at threading up the sewing machine, knowing the names of the different parts and develop their knowledge of seams, sewing them with accuracy. This experiment with mark-making and start to look at the formal elements when analysing their samples and work. This knowledge organiser includes some potential retrieval questions that could be asked of students to check that they have been learning their knowledge organiser. My students are expected to learn different sections for homework. If you find this resource useful or have any feedback,  please leave a review.

Photoshop Repeat Pattern Booklet

This is an 18 page booklet that I created for my Textile students in order to help them use Photoshop to create repeat patterns, that were dye sublimated on to fabric. I also used it to help train other teachers on the basics of software. Simple instructions and lots of print screens showing the process.
