Primary lesson plans RE Religious Education Christmas Story
This is a set of two lesson plans for Year 1, Religious Education lessons on the Christmas story. The learning objectives are:
To know that Christmas is a special day for Christians
To know the sequence of events in the Christmas story
To understand the significance of gift-giving in the Christmas story
To understand that Christians may give many different kinds of gifts at Christmas
To deliver these lessons you will also need:
A source of the Christmas story (children’s bible or online version) or a video clip
Pictures illustrating the key events of the Christmas narrative
A template for children to make a ‘gift box’ – cube or cuboid template. These gift boxes can then be made into a seasonal display.

This is example planning showing an outline of possible Year 1 learning activities for the first day of the new school year.
This is outline planning for Year 1 classes for the first day of term in September.
The planning outline allows for the transition between Reception and Year 1 and the need to familiarise children with learning in a new classroom environment. Helpful for student and newly qualified teachers (NQT).
This planning sheet contains an overview or outline for the first day of term and incorporates:
• Literacy and numeracy objectives with activity suggestions
• PSHE objectives with activity suggestions
• Familiarisation and routine building activities
• Behaviour management prompts
• Expectations for the new school year

Christmas card printable activity set for primary KS1 KS2
This is a simple, low-mess Christmas card making activity set suitable for KS1 and KS2.
Children can use the papers printed with seasonal messages to make a Christmas motif on the front of a card. The activity only requires these materials, scissors and glue. Glitter or sequins are optional as a nice effect can still be achieved with the use of contrasting colours.

Primary lesson plan RE Religious Education Judaism Moses Passover
This is a lesson plan for Year 1, Religious Education lessons on Judaism, focusing on Moses and Passover. This may also fit within a unit on key religious figures in world religions, or ‘Special People’.
The learning objectives are:
To know that Moses is a key figure in the Jewish faith.
To know the story of the escape from Egypt and that this is remembered every year at Passover.
To be able to think about some of the characteristics shown by Moses as a key figure in the Jewish faith.
To deliver these lessons you will also need:
a source of the Passover story or a video clip
an image of a seder plate. This can be found online or in the book ‘My Jewish Faith’ by Anne Clark, published Evans Brothers Ltd (page references given).
A simple worksheet template is included.

Geography KS2 group task on mountain ranges
This is a group task activity set, most suitable for Upper Key Stage Two children 9-11 years old.
The task instructions page asks children to work together to make a display panel about one of the world’s mountain ranges, then present it to the class. The accompanying worksheet ‘Profile of a Mountain Environment’ helps to scaffold the task for children of different abilities.
This task also supports English literacy objectives around using non-fiction sources.

Book review literacy worksheet template for Year 1, Year 2 and Reception
This is a simple literacy book review worksheet template suitable for Year 1 and Year 2 classrooms. It may also be useful for some Reception children.
The worksheet asks children to summarise what has happened in the book, say whether they liked or disliked the book and explain their reason. Useful as part of a guided reading carousel, to support home reading or for literacy lessons.
