The lesson helps learners to understand the differences between implicit and explicit information which is a key skill required for their GCSE’s. The lesson looks at one of the issues of Free School Meals during the Co-vid crisis and how this was overcome by the footballer Marcus Rasford. The lesson includes opportunities for AFL in both reading and writing and comes with an annotated student response. All of my lessons have been tried and tested. The resource has two activities to help students get a better understanding of adjectives and adverbs and how to use these in their own writing. The final task asks them to make notes on a review which will help them when completing exam-style tasks for level 1 and level 2 functional skills.
