I'm currently training as a Primary Teacher so making a wide range of resources using a variety of programmes including ActivInspire and Smart Notebook. My shop also has some of my past resources that I made during my time as a Special Needs Support Assistant. I am also a Cub Scout Leader and have provided some of the resources I have made for this role where I feel that may be of use to others.

Steady Hand Game Booklet (Design and Technology)

This booklet was originally made for a Design and Technology club that I was running at my Special Needs school. We had a range of pupils from Year 5 to Year 9. It was aimed at helping the students in primary transition in to secondary. The project was carefully chosen to use as wide a range of skills as possible. All of the students have a statement for autism. The workbook starts with a page on DT room safety; it then looks at the properties of materials and why they are suitable for the tasks we want to do with them; a bit of product research; design work; two worksheets covering how to vacuum form and solder and a simple sheet to do an evaluation on.

Where possible these are related to things that they should know about. There are 10 main slides and 7 hidden ones containing definitions (of terms such as Heir, Consitution and Alliance).

It includes a template for them to record the design brief on - then moves on to an initial ideas sheet with room to record two ideas. Finally there is a sheet for them to use to carry out an access FM analysis of their prefered idea to help them develop it. This series of worksheets was used by a class in the Special School (Autism) where I work.

Year 3 Multiplying 2-digit by 1-digit numbers plus bonus Column Addition PPT

A PowerPoint complete with starter, plenary and worksheets all embedded within the same Presentation. This was made whilst I was in my Second Placement on my Teacher Training Course. The warm-up activity is a series of multiplication questions that are displayed for 6 seconds each. This is followed by L.O. and S.C. then a page where I would model solving the questions on a whiteboard. This page also has a series of 3 differentiated questions to check the pupils understanding of the content. They would then move on to small question sets with 5 questions per set. These have been designed to enable pupils to decide the level they wish to work at and to move between them after a set of questions. The plenary has 4 different mistakes for different level groups to spot and discuss with a partner. This can then be shared with hte other members of the class. The linked video shows clips from various points during the presentation. (Youtube: KyxAs_Js_UE) Also included is a bonus PowerPoint for Column Addition. This is in a similar format to the multiplication resource. This also includes worksheets as part of the PPT. There is a Pyramids Addition warm-up and a block method evaluation included in the PPT.

Stargazers Nightlights Workbook (for use in Design and Technology with Cornerstones Curriculum)

A work book made for Key Stage 3 Special Needs students with a statement of Autism who are following the Cornerstones Curriculum. In this Design and Technology project students will design and make a night light. Please note that this booklet requires the use of an oven and a laser cutter to complete so is not suitable for primary settings (unless they have strong links to a secondary school). The booklet is aimed at a lower to middle ability group. Each page contains a lot of structure to support students as they complete the project. The pages also include space for pupils to take part in self or peer assessment. The booklet includes pages on: Design Brief Analysis, Research, Specification, Initial Ideas, Modelling, Circuit Design, Final Ideas, Production Plan, Manufacture, Outcome and Evaluation. It also contains a number of hand drawn pictures.

This project is based around the ID theme from the Cornerstones Curriculum. The booklet was produced for a medium ability special needs class. All pupils in the class have a statement of autism. This booklet uses my older style without regular self assessment instead it relies on teacher feedback. There are pages on research, design ideas, final design, how to make, construction and final piece.

I&'m uploading it here as you might like to borrow parts of it for an assembly (there are lyrics in place for Away in a Manger, The Christingle Song, Shine Jesus Shine, Once in Royal David&';s City and Show me the way to shine for Jesus. I have left the video from the Children's Society in place but have had to remove Bethlehem Rhapsody for space reasons (I&'ve included a YouTube link).

Hobbit Conversation with Smaug Worksheet

(2)
A worksheet that includes some scans from a graphic novel version of the Hobbit with the text parts blanked out. The idea is that the pupils come up with the conversation that they think will have been held between Smaug and Bilbo. This was a worksheet I made when I had an English tutor. I've never tried it with children so would be interested to hear how well it goes down with classes.

'Work Experience' Diary (Life Skills)

(1)
A simple booklet that I made for some of our Autistic Students to encourage them to do their life skills work. They used this booklet to record what they had done in the lesson (cleaning, washing up, ironing, etc...) and then were given a target by the member of staff with them for the next lesson. There is also a second page that they can use to stick any pictures of them doing these activities to.

Hobbit / LOTR Comprehension & Descriptive Tasks

Here are two sheets I made when I had an English tutor (last time I applied for Primary Teacher Training). Both are themed around the Hobbit (or Lord of the Rings). In one you are given some text and asked to draw or construct a picture of a Hobbit based on that text. The other gives you a picture of Gandalf and asks you to write a description of the Istari (Gandalf) who is shown in the picture. I've never tried these with children so would be interested to hear how they go down with them if you do try them out.

Christmas Quiz - Round 1 - Santa Claus

(1)
The first part of an ActivExpression Quiz that I'm making for my Cubs and Scouts. It has a mix of general knowledge questions. One question that relies of Maths skills. This part of the quiz includes multiple questions on the same slide so can only be done with ActivExpression handsets not Activotes. It would be possible to change the quiz so you can complete it on a piece of paper. I&'ll upload the other rounds once I&';ve made them.
