The comprehension questions are based upon a 30-minute-long CBBC Newsround Special called Holocaust: Finding My Family. The documentary follows the story of 14-year-old Maggie as she travels with her grandfather, Steven, and learns about his experiences of the Holocaust. The documentary is narrated by author, Anthony Horrowitz. The documentary was made to commemorate Holocaust Memorial Day, but would also be suitable to support any learning relating to World War II or The Holocaust, or as a cover lesson. The question sheets provided come with three levels of differentiation denoted by the stars in the top right corner of the page. An answer sheet is enclosed for easy reference, but there is also a PowerPoint which enables the teacher to review the answers together with the group. This would also be an excellent opportunity to facilitate class discussion. I would recommend viewing the documentary first, to see if you feel it is appropriate for your students. The documentary was made for CBBC, so it has been made with younger viewers in mind.
