The attached document includes a set of 3 tasks in Spanish and in French to keep pupils engaged on the last lessons of the year. These tasks involve dictionary skills (where they have to look up vocabulary on the topic of summer/beach, colour in the items, writing skills (at word level), labelling, drawing and a final writing activity where they are asked to write sentences/a paragraph describing their plans for the summer using the near future tense. Ease to adapt to your own class and in this pack you have the Spanish and the French version!
2 sets of speaking cards (one with questions and prompt answers in Spanish and one with questions and prompt answers in English). Each set comes with red, amber and green cards. The colour of the card determines the level of difficulty. Great task to encourage pupils to talk in a language lesson. 20 pages, 24 cards with questions in Spanish, 24 cards with prompt answers in Spanish, 24 cards with questions in English, 24 cards with prompt answers in English).
Booklet with a list of QUESTIONS for pupils to complete independently after covering all the modules in preparation for their oral exam at the end of Year 1 or for AS. This booklet covers all 6 modules.
Compilation of 40 role play cards with different useful scenarios for students to practice this part of their speaking exam. There are cards for both the FOUNDATION (green) and HIGHER (yellow) TIERS. Each card comes with a list of words which is key vocabulary they are expected to use during the role play or simply useful hints for them to have an idea of the direction which the interaction will take.
Great task for KS4 and Post +16 to practice the conditional tense and develop fluency and spontaneity. This could also be a writing task where pupils are required to use their imagination and get creative.
Fun lesson plan where students get in small groups to create a piece of creative writing using some prompt cards (a set of random images, not included here) which they pick from an envelop. All teams have to follow a number of steps listed in this presentation in order to make sure they include certain grammatical requirements in each paragraph and they pass their story around to the other groups who then are asked to mark the previous paragraph and add up more details to the story using a pen of a different colour. I also gave each team paper in a specific colour to write or you could ask each team to write the team name on the sheet if you choose to use white paper for all. I have done this lesson with a top set Year 8 and it worked really well. They had a lot of fun and it helped them with develop their writing and team work skills. Really easy to adapt to other year groups and abilities by changing grammar required and giving a different set of cards
Speaking mat with key vocabulary to describe people in images (Spanish mostly, no English) so it is great for high ability classes and suitable for lower pathways with a bit of training/additional support. Ideal for KS3 and KS4.
Complete guide to help pupils with strategies, tips and examples to improve Spanish-English translations. This ppt does not come with practice but it is very useful and suitable for independent work as well as to prepare your class before doing some practice. Contents are from Edexcel Grammar and Translation booklet- it work well with any translations but it would be perfect combined with the practice which comes in the same book.
A set of prompt cards to encourage pupils both to ask and answer questions on basic topics. Great to recap topics, promote spontaneity and develop fluency. Cards are colour coded to differentiate and there is a set of cards with prompt instructions in Spanish and another set of cards with instructions in English to stretch and challenge. There is a slide with question words both in Spanish and in English for low ability groups. It supports topics covered in Viva 1. I have used it with several year 7 classes and even with year 8 and it really helped them with progress.
