I have been teaching the Level 3 Applied Science and Forensic curriculum for more than a decade. Many forensic resources out there are innovative yet pitch to younger audiences and don't meet the detail that level 3 and higher students need - I try to integrate an analytical and vocational approach to my resources.

Measurements, Accuracy_Volumetric Skills

Presentation with activities on all matters that relate to accuracy of measurements. Explanations of errors, tolerance, calibration & drift, uncertainty, accuracy & precision. Included is a practical whereby students determine volume from mass and density data. Density data table included from literature. Also, for consolidation, is a crossword I’ve made on this topic. Essential learning for new sixth formers embarking on science subjects and practical work, also for higher level Year 11 science pupils.

Forensic Toxicology_Analytical Chemistry

(0)
A detailed presentation on forensic toxicology using well known examples from the news/media. Focus is on the value of samples and analytical chemical techniques involved such as immunoassay and GCMS. Includes calculations that the toxicologist would perform, so a clear link between STEM & forensics. Would be useful for AS/A2 chemistry students so that they might gain awareness of analytical applications to the ‘real world’. Will be useful to a teacher delivering forensic material to L3 and higher.
