This activity is designed to be used through the flipped learning model. For homework, students are asked to watch the video, which gives an overview of the topic area in an engaging and memorable way. Students then complete the exam-style questions (which are arranged into section A and section B/C-style questions). Mark schemes are provided to enable self/peer marking the following lesson. ‘Guilt’ sheets are included, which have been completed but also contain errors. This means that any learner that hasn’t done their homework for whatever reason can still engage with feedback and assessment tasks. At least one Socrative quiz can also be accessed through links on the resource. If you’re not using Socrative, it’s absolutely brilliant for multiple choice and short answer quizzing. This is the first part of our complete KS3 music Scheme of Learning. The SoL is based on the keyboard and this first part aims to get pupils comfortable with reading stave notation.
