This is the story of two puppies, Naymar and Nicolas. One puppy will live with a hunter and one puppy is adopted by a family as a pet. How do you think their lives will be different? The story includes ‘pause points’. Stop at these points in the story and ask children to reflect and respond to the questions we ask. Available in Spanish and English.

Using the flash cards, introduce the English words to describe the feelings of Niko the greyhound. Practice pronouncing each word as a class. Encourage children to change the volume, tone and pitch of their voice, or make a face to match the emotion to help them remember the words. Hand out copies of the flash cards then re-read the story in English. When the children hear you say their word they hold the flash card up.

If you have been learning about Galgos then you will know how important it is to find them homes where they can be looked after and loved as part of a family. Use this activity with younger children to create ‘WANTED’ posters for family homes for our rescued galgos. Older children can create campaign posters to raise awareness of the plight of the galgo, and to help stop galgos being ill-treated and abandoned.
