I have been a math teacher for almost 20 years at all age levels, homeschool through college, private schools and public schools. I've taught gifted students, challenged students, and students who thought math was BORING. My favorite students to teach, though, are the ones who think they can't do it. 10% of all Proceeds for Kaffenate Math go to this AWESOME horse rescue: https://www.facebook.com/TAPSfordrafts/

An introduction to Rational Numbers… AKA Fractions! What does an ancient Egyptian god’s eye have to do with fractions? Watch and find out! While I’d like to believe that students LIVE to watch MATH videos… I know that’s not always the case. Sigh. This worksheet will help keep the students on track, either at home or in class. Or perhaps you could use this as a pop quiz! 10% of all Proceeds for Kaffenate Math go to this AWESOME horse rescue: https://www.facebook.com/TAPSfordrafts/

What do disco, zombies, and pizza have to do with fractions? Everything! (At least in this activity!) Adding and subtracting fractions can absolutely STOP a students in his/tracks. These worksheets (3) have examples and step by step instructions included. There is also room to workout the problems right on the page. (My students are very picky about having ENOUGH room to work with!) The answer key shows each step. Each problem has enough space for the student to work it out right there. –Challenge or puzzle: The kids love the challenges or puzzles that are part of each module. These acts as both incentives and, sometimes, self-checking tools. –Answer Keys! Busy teachers don’t have time to make their own answer keys. I’ve done that for you. Math Mixups are a fun twist on Math Magic Squares. The numbers in the grey boxes are row and column totals. However, the numbers in the middle are all mixed up! Students need to rearrange the numbers so that the sums of the columns and rows equal the numbers in the grey boxes… with a few numbers to get them started. This is a great activity for filling that last 10 minutes of the day or for students who finish work early in class. Have fun!
