How many different ways can Santa wrap the presents? An investigation for children to find all of the combinations of wrapping paper and ribbon. Differentiated worksheets are included and I used real wrapping paper and ribbon for LA/SEN children.

I use this spreadsheet for my tracking. It includes groups that my school is focussing on and allows you to filter by these groups e.g., Free School Meals, EAL, summer/spring/autumn birthdays, etc.. It will be easy to change the column headings to include groups that your school is focussing on. There is a tab for each of maths, reading, literacy and science.

A number problem for year 1 children to solve involving triangular numbers. We had been looking at different methods the children could use to solve number problems, e.g. drawing diagrams, using apparatus, making playdough models, etc.. They worked in pairs or small groups to encourage them to talk about their approach. The problem is easily differentiated by changing the final number. More able children and those in higher year groups could look at the pattern and think about rules for solving the problem regardless of the number given.

A perfect way to bring an engaging technology activity into your classroom and a fun Halloween freebie! This resource contains a PowerPoint with Halloween-themed images for your children to segment for spelling. Simply download onto a computer, Chrome book or tablet that can display PowerPoints or upload to Google slides for devices connected to the internet, e.g. iPads. Start the slideshow and children write the words on whiteboards or into books. There is a slide at the end where they can check their own work. I know that all sounds a bit complicated but my Year 1 SEN kids use these with independence! This activity is great for Year R work stations, independent cutaways, intervention work, peer tutoring, assessment, morning work or an early finisher task. Outdoors phonics activity, useful for Phase 4 revision of sounds. Print off the sound cards and hide around the playground. Children find the sound and the number then return to the supervising adult(s) who uses the checklist to ensure children have the sound correct and to record which sounds they have found.

I put together a flyer with some Year 1 maths objectives that parents can help their children with at home. There are some maths game/activity ideas and also websites for some online maths games matched to the objectives given.

I put together these revision slides for my less able Year 4s. When it came to maths papers, they persistently forgot 'easy' maths that they could do in class, so we revised them to death with these slides for some easy points on the papers!

A place value worksheet where the children use given digits to create a 2-digit number that matches a target statement. There are two sheets, the second one provides more of a challenge.

Looking at the legacy of the Montreal Olympic Stadium, nicknamed 'The Big Mistake&' because of the amount of money poured into it. Also asks the children to think about the impact on the environment and society. Includes an activity at the end of creating a legacy for the London 2012 stadium and how to use it creatively and sustainably. My kids got so involved in this, it really surprised me how motivated and inventive they were - they even carried on in their own spare time!
