I’ll be using this with year 1s so I have tried to keep the emotional language as simple as possible. Children will take their names off the classroom door as they arrive and pop them into the labeled pot corresponding to mood.
There are 2 versions included in this white background/coloured background. Each page of the fan has a different coloured emotion monster with some words to go with that feeling.

It then teaches what tessellation is with picture examples. It sets children an tessellation hunt activity and then a task to create their own tessellated pattern at the end using 2D shapes.

A maths problem solving activity where the children are introduced to finding rules and patterns. Children are introduced to a scenario then taught step by step how to work out the rule and describe the pattern. They are then given another scenario to work through themselves with another snake and a different pattern. Used with a year 1 class during home learning.
The Power point recaps different UK coins (their values). Then the power point introduces the cafe role-play where children have to calculate the cost of a person’s order and then work out what coins are needed to pay for it. It goes on to challenge them further to investigate all the combinations of coins that could be used to make the amount. It finishes with some thinking questions and a final amount investigation (a larger amount needing several coin combinations). Originally used with a Year 1 class as a home learning activity.
This teaches the concept of repeated addition using multiples of 10, links it to multiplication and introduces basic multiplication of the 10 times table. Originally used with a year 1 class as a home learning introduction.
This teaches the concept of repeated addition using multiples of 5, links it to multiplication and introduces basic multiplication of the 5 times table. Originally used with a year 1 class as a home learning introduction.
Children are taught that there are different ways to make amounts with money. The activity encourages problem solving skills where children have to find all the possibilities. It talks them through doing it step by step and then gives them a task at the end.

A simple chart enabling the children to compare the weather between Wales and Brazil. It was used with year 1 as part or our Rio de Vida Context for Learning. Children are required to draw a weather symbol in each country’s section for each day (key of symbols provided) then put in the temperature of the different countries. There is then another section for them to add in other information e.g. humidity, precipitation etc. (A list of options for this section is also included.) It has a link to the MET office website in the blurb at the top of the sheet.
