This Presentation is designed to be used alongside the June 2019 AQA GCSE English Language paper. The text is taken from HE Bates’ The Mill featuring the Hartop family. The lesson focuses on question 4, starting by getting students to think about creating balanced arguments, before giving them some discourse markers for discursive writing. Finally, they are asked to apply these skills to the text and attempt to answer Question 4.
