Approx. 1 hour lesson on the Kingdom of Mali before the slave trade, as a case study of the thriving culture, economy and education of Africa prior to Transatlantic slave trade. A carousel/ information gathering tasks using evidence and sources. Powerpoint slides, information sheets and worksheet all included in file. This went down really well with my year 8 and worked to dispell ‘myths’ on Africa prior to colonisation. Suitable for KS3.
