NUMBERS 0-20 ADDITION & SUBTRACTION CARDS

(1)
**MATHS FOR EARLY YEARS - ADDITION AND SUBTRACTION NUMBERS 0-20 GAMES CARDS - PERFECT FOR DEVELOPING NUMERACY SKILLS - 72 CALCULATIONS ** MONSTER MATHS MATCHING GAME CARDS are perfect for practising addition and subtraction, focusing on numbers up to 20. Children can work together or alone, challenging each other and themselves to calculate correctly in order to find the right answer. The monster theme is really popular with children too, and the physical nature of the games is effective for all learners, particularly those who tend to favour kinaesthetic learning activities. I’ve found that the games work particularly well for small group and intervention or additional support work. They’re perfect for rainy day games both at school and at home too! Children enjoy working both at their own pace, and also sometimes with a little competitive edge in teams, using a timer to really challenge themselves - can they beat their own time record? Revisit regularly to map both improved number recognition and calculation skill, as well as increasing confidence. The question cards are numbered, which helps children track their responses when they refer to the answer key. Having access to the answer key helps facilitate both self– and peer assessment in the matching game, and enables children to become a little more independent in their learning. They can easily identify which questions and responses are either addition or subtraction by looking for the +/- sign, and also the position of the monster on the card. Laminate the cards and answer keys if you can - you’ll be able to use them for years to come! I’ve included both a colour and a B&W version of the cards and answer keys, which is helpful if you need to keep prep costs down. This resource consists of four non-editable files in a zipped format. GERMAN FRUITS & VEGETABLES FLASHCARDS POSTERS

(1)
PRIMGERMAN FRUITS & VEGETABLES FLASHCARDS POSTERS two sets of flashcards @ $1.80 each in the bundle Das Obst und Gemüse auf Deutsch 25 fruits & 25 vegetables in German, definite article, masculine & feminine, singular & plural. Using flashcards to introduce and practice language is a popular and successful language teaching and learning method, providing lots of opportunity for vocabulary games and recall. The flashcards are equally useful as classroom posters, keeping key target language prominent and visible, as well as creating a really German ambiance in the learning environment. I use this set to gradually introduce and work on the concept of gender, and to provide speaking and pronunciation prompts, from the straightforward Was ist das? to Ja/nein or Richtig/falsch questions, which allow us to move to from one-word responses to more complex language, such as plurals or particularly negative sentences, which can be quite tricky in German, and often requires a lot of practice Nein, das ist kein Apfel, das ist eine Banane and so on. This kind of vocabulary is really useful for an implicit approach to introducing and practicing the accusative of articles too, for example Ich habe einen Blumenkohol, Ich habe den Blumenkohl. The key focus on on the definite article, both masculine and feminine, singular and plural, though I do use the set to start to compare these with the indefinite article, which I’ve found to be a really successful way of helping students embed grammatical concepts such as gender, implicitly, without the need for repeated explicit instruction. It’s good to move away from predominantly teacher-led activities, and after the initial introduction phase, I have students take turns manipulating the cards and asking the questions. Again, this is a really popular activity, and a very easy way of enabling students to practise asking questions, instead of always responding to them. The fruits are: green apples; red apple; bananas; cherries; dates; fig; green grapes; red grapes; kiwi; lemon; mango; nectarine; olives; oranges; papaya; peach; pears; pineapple; pumpkin; raspberry; redcurrants; rhubarb; starfruit; strawberries; watermelon The vegetables are: artichoke; asparagus; beetroot; broccoli; cabbage; carrots; cauliflower; celery; corn; cucumber; eggplants/aubergines; French/green beans; garlic; leeks; lettuce; mushrooms; onions; peas; red peppers; yellow pepper; potatoes; sprouts; spinach; sweet potatoes; tomato The posters are 8.5 x 11 (A4) portrait size. There are two backgrounds to choose from - German flag or black wave, so 100 posters in total. The fruits and vegetables are in my store separately, at £3.00 each. The files are non-editable in a zipped format. They’re copyright, all rights reserved. They may not be copied, rewritten, shared or distributed in any way. SPANISH VOCABULARY CARDS #2

(1)
PRIMARY SPANISH KS3 SPANISH VOCABULARY 99 words & phrases, with matching English cards & workbook My students really like to work independently, in pairs and in small groups, and these vocabulary cards enable them to do that. They find that this way of working really does help them to develop their confidence and embed the vocabulary into their longer-term memory. There are lots of games and activities to play, and I’ve described several that are successful with my groups. They love to quiz and test themselves and each other on a regular basis - it’s a very popular alternative to more traditional vocabulary ‘drilling tasks’. The target vocabulary includes essential beginner Spanish words and phrases in the following vocabulary groups: **Los saludos Los colores Las partes del cuerpo Los números 21-40 El tiempo Frases útiles para la clase Preguntas y respuestas The 18-page reference, recall and write workbook gives students a different way of consolidating their vocabulary - writing it out really helps to embed language, and is great for spelling too. There are 3 differentiated recall and write challenges, as well as a full alphabetical Spanish-English vocabulary list, which works well as a longer-term reference resource too. The 3 differentiated Recall & Write activities really help students practice and review the vocabulary, and to work on spelling and writing in Spanish: Written Recall Challenge One: students write the English word /phrase from a Spanish prompt, with all the words and phrases grouped together in the same category Written Recall Challenge Two: with this challenge, students write the words and phrases in Spanish from an English prompt, and again, they’re all group together in the same category Written Recall Challenge Three: this final challenge ‘switches’ at each question from Spanish to English, and lists words and phrases randomly from each category I encourage students to complete the Notes and Next Steps sheet regularly - this helps promote reflective learning, encourages students to think about progress they have made, to think about targets for improvement, and how to achieve those targets. Have a browse in my store for more Spanish independent learning activities, and a wide range of other Spanish teaching and learning materials, with special offer bundles, resource boxes, and lots of freebies too! SPANISH SPEAKING PRACTICE CARDS #1

(1)
GCSE SPANISH KS3 SPANISH KS4 SPANISH SPEAKING PRACTICE These Spanish speaking practice cards are perfect for developing speaking skills - there are 100 question and answer cards and a reference book focusing on beginning and building conversation. They’re also great for multi-skill language learning - they give students structured talk opportunities and will also get them listening, reading and writing. They’re ideal for independent learning, and perfect for pair and small-group work. The cards feature language and structures that my students generally meet in the advanced beginner Spanish of their Spanish programme, including a range of tenses. The reference book includes all the questions and answers written out in Spanish. It’s an essential learning support resources for my students, who use it as a general writing frame to guide and inform their own creative writing. It’s really useful for mini-translation, whole-group pronunciation and reading-out loud practice too. We use the notes and next steps template to reflect on learning, what we might reasonably do to progress learning, and to inform and support whole-group discussion about learning in general. The question and answer writing card templates give students a great opportunity to apply Spanish practically and creatively, as they put together both questions and answers for each other. This is a great team activity too, and really popular with my students. The cards are really versatile, and work well in lots of different learning contexts, such as***independent learning time, home learning, revision and exam prep, and cover lessons***. There are also lots of other games and activities students can play - I’ve described how to play several you can start with that have been really successful with my learners. Have a browse in my store for more Spanish independent learning activities, and a wide range of other Spanish teaching and learning materials, with special offer bundles, resource boxes, and lots of freebies too! SPANISH MONTHS & SEASONS WORD SEARCHES
LivelyLearningLivelyLearning

SPANISH MONTHS & SEASONS WORD SEARCHES

(2)
PRIMARY SPANISH YEAR 7 SPANISH KS3 SPANISH MONTHS & SEASONS OF THE YEAR WORD SEARCHES ten differentiated word searches focusing on the months and seasons of the year in Spanish. My students really enjoy practicing their vocabulary with word searches. They like to work independently, either alone, in pairs or in small groups, challenging themselves and each other to progress through the challenges. In general, sopas de letras are a fabulous way of encouraging learners to engage with the written word in Spanish, refreshing and reinforcing language as they complete the grids. Word searches are easily differentiated too. In this set, there are five Spanish to Spanish grids, with the Spanish words as prompts. Students then find them in Spanish in the grid. A great way of really consolidating vocabulary is to get students to complete the word list on the grid sheet too. There are also five English to Spanish grids. With these, the prompt words are in English, so students have to know the correct Spanish word in order to find it in the grid. There's a word list to complete on these too. As the challenge increases, the words appear in an increasing number of different directions, and students can identify which directions they're looking for by referring to the arrow key on each grid. My students always like to have answer keys, and I really find these an integral and essential element of the learning activity. They provide students with an additional opportunity to engage with language, and they genuinely enjoy 'correcting' their own and particularly each others' work - they're a great teacher time-saver too, which is always a good thing! The word searches are in landscape format, as I’ve found this to be the best format for beginner language learners, mirroring the direction of reading from left to right in both Spanish and English. The format also allows for a fairy large font, ensuring that language is lear and accessible. This kind of activity is really versatile too - I use them for sub lessons, as starters, refreshers, plenaries or fun-time fillers at any time during the school year, as well as when I'm focusing on months and seasons of the year in Spanish. Files are non-editable in a zipped format. The resource is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, rewritten, shared or distributed outside your own classroom in any way. GERMAN CITIES WORD SEARCHES

GERMAN CITIES WORD SEARCHES

(1)
GERMAN CITIES WORD SEARCHES - FIVE DIFFERENTIATED GERMAN CITIES WORD SEARCHES WITH ANSWER KEYS AND GRID TEMPLATE - PERFECT FOR DEVELOPING GERMAN LANGUAGE SKILLS AND DISCOVERING MAJOR CITIES IN GERMANY Word searches are great for encouraging students to engage with the written word in German - they refresh and reinforce language as they complete each grid. Students get a really good introduction to, and overview of, the geography of Germany and a range of major German cities in a slightly different way. We talk about other cities and towns students may know or discover too. With this set, each grid increases in challenge, and students can tell in which direction the words are written by looking at the arrow key. I always give my students answer keys for these types of activity - it’s an additional opportunity to engage with language, it helps them develop more independence in their learning, and they genuinely enjoy ‘correcting’ their own and especially each others’ work. The templates help students apply their knowledge of language more creatively and practically - and they can include cities they discover too. The reference sheet works well as a long-term reference resource, not just for these particular word searches. I use word searches in a range of contexts, not only when we’re looking specifically at the focus language - they’re great for starters, for free-choice activities, for sub lessons and so on. The files are non-editable in a zipped format. Please read the Terms of Use carefully - the resource is copyright, all rights reserved. PRIMARY LATIN NUMBERS ROMAN NUMERALS POSTERS

(2)
PRIMARY LATIN NUMBERS ROMAN NUMERALS 1-20 POSTERS FLASHCARDS My young Latin learners love the colourful display, which give the classroom a great Latin look and feel. Giving your learning environment a Latin ’look’ also promotes Latin as a ’real’ language, featuring in the everyday life of the students. We use them for counting, spelling and memory games too. They're also ideal as flashcards, and I often use them to introduce and practise language, particularly with smaller groups, as I don't like to use the whiteboard all the time. Using flashcards to introduce and practise language is a really successful directed teaching and learning activity. I like to vary the words for Latin numbers with Roman Numerals - it's a fantastic way of developing both language and numeracy skills in general. The flashcards/posters introduce learners to Numbers 1-20 & Roman Numerals in Latin from the very beginning of their learning, and they are able to familiarise themselves with both the ‘look’ of Latin words, and how they are represented in the written form. Additionally, they provide an opportunity to create some great cross-curricular activities with maths! I’ve used some generic images, and well as some with a classical civilisation feel, which we use to discuss both Roman and Greek civilisation. There are two backgrounds to choose from: colour or black wave. Laminate and/or print on card stock - the posters will last for years, and they're definitely easier to manipulate as flashcards. GERMAN IRREGULAR VERBS PRESENT TENSE

(4)
GCSE GERMAN KS3 GERMAN KS4 GERMAN PRESENT TENSE IRREGULAR VERBS CONJUGATION PRACTICE This workbook focuses on 25 high-frequency irregular verbs in the present tense. I’ve used these ‘quick conjugations’ for many years with my German students. My students find them to be a great way of practising, reinforcing and revising how to conjugate essential verbs in German. I’ve used them in a range of contexts such as independent work either in class time or at home, holiday refresher work, or individual activities for cover lessons. I tend to give my students regular opportunities to practise the conjugations during the whole schools year, and they find this really useful for mapping their own progress and developing their overall understanding of how German conjugation ‘works’. The resource is structured as follows: Two alphabetical verb reference lists: German-English and English-German. Three conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations: Conjugation Challenge 1: each verb conjugated in German across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding English verb conjugation. Conjugation Challenge 2: gives the infinitive of each verb in German, specifying the target pronoun. Students write the corresponding verb conjugation in German. Conjugation Challenge 3: students write the corresponding German verb conjugation, and its infinitive, from an English prompt. Notes and Next Steps template which students visit regularly - it really does encourage them to think about where they are now, how confident they feel, and what they might need to work on a little more to be absolutely sure of their conjugation skills. answer key Though the workbook focuses solely on the correct conjugation of verbs, and does not look at word order in the context of full sentences, there are conjugation patterns that students can learn, recognise and apply, ensuring that their spoken and written German is accurate, and that their understanding of German across the skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing is robust. Students become very familiar and confident the more they work with conjugation, and these quick conjugations certainly help to embed that successfully.
