This booklet is designed to help students with assignment 5B (Pearson spec) - "To understand the influence of enrichment on an animal" It includes information on the causes of abnormal behaviour, the impact of enrichment and types of enrichment. Hello, I have put together this information booklet which I have used to help my students complete assignment 5A. The booklet includes information on the main types of 'normal' animal behaviour. It also includes the different types of internal and external factors. Some tasks also included. See contents page for full list of everything included.

Powerpoint and information sheets 1 & 2 provide all of the information Pearson specify that students need to know (these can be used as an independent revision resource). The worksheet and powerpoint provide activities aimed at helping students record and learn this information.

This powerpoint provides all the information students need to know about Quantitative checks - as specified by Pearson. Questions for students to answer are on the last slide and I have also included a double-sided A3 crib sheet that students can use to record all the information they need about quantitative checks - this then becomes a very useful revision resource.

This powerpoint includes information and pictures covering all of the components of a weekly physical health check as specified by Pearson. There is also an A3 sheet with pictures which students can use to record information from the power point. Finally, I have also included a worksheet which helps students to structure their own weekly physical checklist.

This lesson looks at the importance of the UK's moorlands, it then moves on to look at the problems our moorlands are facing and finally how it is being managed and restored. Activities included

Lesson questions who is responsible for reducing greenhouse emissions? It looks at the different protocols and governmental responses and then moves onto looking at individual ways we can reduce our emissions.

This presentation aims teach how consumerism is destroying eco-systems with a focus on Cod in the North Sea. The powerpoint looks at the problem, how it is being managed and the effects of this on the environment and people. Silent debate activity also included - statements are spread around the room and students write their own viewpoints on each statement sheet, these can then become a great basis for thoughtful class discussions. Activities also allow opportunity to practice math skills through data analysis.

This lesson looks at the negative effects of consumerism on eco-systems and biodiversity. It focuses on the destruction of TRF in Borneo to make way for Palm Oil Plantations - the presentation looks into the location of Borneo, what is happening there and how is this TRF destruction being managed/combatted. Lots of questions and activities included within the presentation.

This lesson aims to teach students about one of the negative effects consumerism has on the environment. It focuses on E-Waste - what is it and why is it so bad? There is also a topical introduction focusing on the Great Specific Garbage Patch. Optional activity on the recycling process also included along with information sheet.

Possible introduction to the new Eduqas Environmental Challenges unit. Lesson covers consumerism, what is it and what are some of the effects of consumerism (briefly). The lesson then focuses on the idea of food miles and is it actually better to buy locally or not? Presentation and resources for whole lesson included.

This lesson provides information on the four pieces of legislation Animal Handlers/Carers need to be aware of. It is also all of the legislation Pearson specify in their specification. Simple card sort and record activity included. Legislations covered are: Animal Welfare Act 2006 Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 Manual Handling Operations Regulations Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Regulations 2002

These resources cover everything on incident reporting in the Pearson specification. Save yourself an evening - it's done or you. This usually takes two lessons to complete during which students will learn the difference between minor and major injuries and how each should be reported. They will also learn the purpose of reporting and recording incidents. Optional task: Create their own incident report form OR students can use the scenarios provided to complete the blank incident report form that is included. Finally, students will gain an understanding of RIDDOR - what it is, why it is important and the types of injuries that should be reported to them (information sheet included).

In this lesson students will learn the difference between hazards and risk. They will then have chance to explore some of the different hazards and risks involved with working with animals and finally they should use these examples (and their own knowledge) to complete a risk assessment. Differentiated risk assessment worksheet included too.
