By adding many pictures, photos, maps and diagrams and a video link, the course becomes more accessible to all ability pupils. This unit is about the problems of homesteading in the West: the weather and farming conditions on the Great Plains, the risks of homesteaders in settling in the West, how railroads improved the life of settlers, and what inventions made life of pioneers easier.
