I have been a head of department for 6 years now in 2 different schools. The main issue I find is different assessment methods in different schools. With this in mind I have now fully converted to Google Classroom to make my resources accessible wherever my career may take me. Google forms with Flubaroo enabled self marks and reduces your workload. Welcome to the 21st century :)
