I just used this and all my learners felt confident in answering exam questions on this. In this power point I have animated the mechanism for different types of alcohols. Emphasis placed on how the mechanism can lead to more than one product at times and which one that does not dehydrate. This is mainly catered for the AQA specification, but would benefit ANY board as gives the students a better understanding of mechanisms.

This PPT will cover very briefly ALL about acids and would be excellent not only as part of teaching through the year AND quick revision for the exam. Designed to cover the AQA GCSE triple science syllabus. Just delivered it to my students and all enjoyed it and opened to much discussion.

Another very effective resource that work wonders for my students. This resources tackles areas that many students struggle over as the animation used provides the students with the steps need to answer exam style question. Also covering many of the key aspects students struggle over.

This recent Power Point, with animation, I have created to make it easy to cover the MAIN points on this topic. Many books make it too complicated for non-physicist !. It contains 5 slides that covers the basic from SHE to Cell notation. Then another 4 slides which goes through slowly an exam question, including the official mark linked to the worked out answer. The last 3 three must be printed out as a worksheet for students to annotate or write on as the first 5 slides are explained as shown.

This power point starts by looking at the steps the learners MUST be aware of and equations related to each step. It also has a handout to print out for the students to use once it goes into the FULLY ANIMATED, with sound effects, Born Haber Cycle. This adds an element of fun in the classes that ALL my students enjoyed. The sound effects keep the students alert at all times AND help the visual learners to understand whats going on. Its one of the best PPTs that I have created. In fact questions related to the BHC have been attempted with much better results in tests etc. I also got 100% pass rate in the main external exams from A* to C also (AQA Board). This is all also good for ALL main boards both in UK and USA.

Another important mechanism where learners make simple mistakes in OCR - keep forgetting the diploles on the C-X bond as in the AQA specification it is not required. So I covered both, including a starter activity and followed at the end with a stretch and challenge question. This keeps the learners motivated and gives them research skills required for university. Please try and put in the review if anyone requires a specific PPT or resources they want me to produce. This resource I created for those students who are very demanding and want to know why the bond angle of 109.5 exists for the tetrahedral shape. It could also be an excellent starter activity for say 10 min and also tick the box for numeracy box !! I used this this year encourage motivation and to prove it cannot be 90 degrees which otherwise learners find hard top accept. I have also attached the answers and the worksheet that can be drawn on the board OR printed out for the students.

This resource worked well with my students when it came to understanding Distillation & Reflux experiment setup. In the power point there will be a handout to print (the last slide) and then an animated slide that reveals the answers one by for the teacher to explain EACH step/point of the process. The rest of the animated slides make it very clear where students make the most common mistakes during the experiment. The final slide are 4 KEY points summarised in case students have missed them during the lesson. e.g WRONG SET UP (1) – REFLUX & DISTILLATION WRONG SET UP (2) – DISTILLATION WRONG SET UP (3) – REFLUX OVER HEATING (4) – REFLUX & DISTILLATION

I have created a one page summary of alcohols (Primary, Secondary & Tertiary). It also includes everything that a leaner needs to know to answer questions on these reactions. For example, colour change, conditions equations etc. Its very handy also for teachers to keep on file to aid there teaching. By adding more examples, this work sheet can help you plan at least 3 lessons.

This is mainly catered for ALL major examining boards namely AQA, OCR and Edexcel specification. Also used in the USA for other board possibly.

I have attached my first PPT that involved a mechanism to download and check, which is why its much cheaper than the rest. I will be improving this sometime in the future and it will give teachers the quality of the PPT’s created. More importantly help teachers an idea , may be, to plan lessons on a area of chemistry that many learners struggle over and lose very simple marks. Hope you all find it useful as I have interleaved shapes of ions and Markovnikov’s principle.

This is the second part of the electronic configuration PPT that I have made that will cover AS and A2 knowledge required - including the Aufbau and Hund’s principle. Stability of ions, filling of sub-shell including transition metals, etc. Hope it helps people.
