Creative & engaging Year7 SOW based on new EnglishLanguageGCSE - childhood and education theme

This complete SOW named 'Another Brick in the Wall' (ABitW) includes 18 lessons full of engaging activities which will hopefully spark a love for 19th-21st century fiction and non-fiction texts amongst KS3 students. Can be used with year 8s also. Theme running throughout the scheme is childhood, education and growing up. It focuses on the differences between fiction and non-fiction texts and teaches/tests the new skills required for the new Language GCSE papers. Includes extracts from Roald Dahl's 'Boy', Charlotte Bronte's 'Jane Eyre', Charles Dickens' 'Oliver Twist' and includes other authors such as Michael Morpurgo, Laurie Lee, and Daphne du Maurier. It includes a mini assessment half way through to test students' knowledge on Q3 of the new language paper 1 (based on structure) and a main assessment at the end of the scheme to test on Q4 (To what extent do you agree?) Both assessment extracts are also included as are 2 preparation lessons prior to the mini and main assessments.
