Place Value Bundle

Place Value Bundle

Even if you don't use White Rose Maths Hub schemes of learning these are great, visual place value resources. Recognising and representing numbers to 10 million, comparing numbers to 10 million, rounding numbers. and negative numbers. Based to White Rose Maths Hub schemes of learning, these resource allows you to create questions similar to the visual varied fluency question. We think the schemes are great, in particular the visual fluency questions but feel there needs to be more practise questions in order for children to consolidate their learning. We think these are really useful to supplement the great schemes but do take a lot of time to produce - hence the charge for the resource. However we are committed to embracing these new schemes and we want to continue to produce similar visual creators / supplementing questions throughout the year. We would value your feedback on these resources so we can improve and make them most effective to reduce teachers workload. Thank you for taking time to browse the resources. @mathsteryed

Addition and Subtraction Y5/Y6 - Whole Numbers

Providing further visual fluency questions, building on the visual representations provided in the White Rose Place Value schemes of learning. This pack contains 3 worksheets along with corresponding answer sheets. The questions throughout the worksheets will provide opportunity for children to secure their addition and subtraction fluency, carry, exchange and find missing numbers / digits using the inverse operation happens when there is more than 10 in a place value column. Within each worksheet there is two or more sets of questions, that can be used to provide differentiated activities for various abilities. We hope you find these worksheets useful and save you time planning. We aim to produce resources which are of the highest quality - we strongly believe that the visual aspects of these worksheets enable deep understanding of the areas being taught. Once you have used these resources, we would love to hear what worked particularly well and what could be improved on: we often edit our resources. Multiply and Divide by 10,100 and 1000

Multiply and Divide by 10,100 and 1000

A visual resource (including notebooks and worksheets for two levels of differentiation) to support learners new to multiplying and dividing by 10, 100 and 1000. The place value counter visuals give all learners deep understanding of multiplying and dividing by 10,100 and 1000. Slow learners should build their understanding of multiplying before moving onto division - the differentiated worksheet and notebook allows for more practise at multiplying by 10,100 and 1000. Each worksheet has an 'Aspire' worded question at the end of the worksheet, which require children to apply their knowledge to a reasoning style question. We hope you find these worksheets useful and save you time planning. We aim to produce resources which are of the highest quality - we strongly believe that the visual aspects of these worksheets enable deep understanding of the areas being taught. Addition and Subtraction - Missing Numbers

Addition and Subtraction - Missing Numbers

How many children when presented with the calculation '145 - ___ = 234' would add 145 to 234? This question drove me to using bar model to represent the numbers in the question as part, part, whole. This resource builds upon previous bar model knowledge learnt, where children can write the fact families represented by bar models, identify the parts and whole and can represent written calculations as bar models. This resource contains a notebook to be used as a class presentation, guided questions used for modelling to the class, independent practise questions and application to SAT style worded questions. We hope you find these worksheets useful and save you time planning. We aim to produce resources which are of the highest quality - we strongly believe that the visual aspects of these worksheets enable deep understanding of the areas being taught. Number Bonds to 10 - Bar Modelling Lesson Two

Number Bonds to 10 - Bar Modelling Lesson Two

* Note - The whole sequence of lessons (1-3) along with loop cards is available as a bundle: please check out our shop * We have produced this resource to support children learning how to use bar modelling for the first time: this is lesson two. The notebook presentation - which is also attached as a PDF - guides children through many small steps in order to be able to manipulate bar models, part/part/whole models and fact families using number bonds to 10. Guided activities are provided, to allow for modelling and learning activities. Throughout the presentation, key words are explored e.g. total, number sentences, fact family, total and part. By the end of the sequence of learning children will be able to use this vocabulary fluently. A worksheet is provided that allows for further practise of the concepts introduced. There are no differentiated activities during this activity, as we feel that all children should spend time consolidating 'using bar models' so that the concept can be deeply embedded. We have used this lesson in many school and the outcomes have been great. However, we understand that each school is different; if you find things didn't work particularly well or if you loved the lesson - we would be grateful if you could leave feedback. Or, even better, tweet us some pictures of your children doing the activities @mathsteryed

Addition and Subtraction Y5/6 - Find the Difference

Addition and Subtraction Y5/6 - Find the Difference

Based on the White Rose Maths Y6 Schemes - find the difference between the two numbers on the number lines. Children have to workout the increments and find the value of A and B, then subtract them to find the difference. For an extra challenge for more able children, the numbers are presented in different measurements e.g. mm and cm. We hope you find these worksheets useful and save you time planning. We aim to produce resources which are of the highest quality - we strongly believe that the visual aspects of these worksheets enable deep understanding of the areas being taught. NOTE: Also available as a bundle (which includes numbers to 10 million and comparing numbers) for only £3: visit our shop page!! Based to White Rose Maths Hub schemes of learning, this resource provides a worksheet of questions similar to the visual varied fluency question. We think the schemes are great, in particular the visual fluency questions but feel there needs to be more practise questions in order for children to consolidate their learning. This worksheet provides four questions similar to the fluency questions (we call the the achieve section). In the further sections - challenge and aspire - children are required to so reasoning skills to answer the questions, which are still based on the same visual representation. Answer sheet is provided! Update: there we have also produced a worksheet when children write the nearest multiple at either side of the number line then place the number, which is being rounded on the number line - this worked great with our slow learners, who struggles to grasp any understanding of rounding. We think these are really useful to supplement the schemes but do they take a lot of time to produce - hence the charge for the resource. Addition and Subtraction Y6 - Bar Modelling

Addition and Subtraction Y6 - Bar Modelling

Further fluency practise using bar models. In this resource there are three worksheets to differentiate learning. Worksheet one includes questions where only the whole is missing and the learners have to add the two parts to find the whole. Worksheet two includes questions where either the part or the whole is missing and the learner has to use addition or subtraction to find the missing number. Worksheet three builds on worksheet two by introducing more than two parts. We hope you find these worksheets useful and save you time planning. We aim to produce resources which are of the highest quality - we strongly believe that the visual aspects of these worksheets enable deep understanding of the areas being taught. Based on the visual concept of sandcastles (+1) and holes (-1) used in the White Rose schemes of learning. This worksheet allows children to gain deep understanding of negative numbers before moving onto larger numbers in abstract forms. The sheet is presented with three levels of difficulty, which are: achieve - where children have to write the calculation to match the visual; challenge - where children have to draw the visual to solve the calculation; and aspire - where children have to solve problems in context. We hope you like this resource and find it provides high quality practise to support the examples in the schemes of learning. Note: this is also part of our place value bundle for only £3.
