I am a Humanities and Social Sciences teacher in regional Western Australia. I am only in my fourth year of teaching so I still (and always will!) have lots to learn! I am back into teaching after travelling around Europe for six months learning about the incredible History the land holds.

Crime Scene Investigation

This resource is a series of lessons that challenges students to solve a crime using the evidence left at a crime scene. Lessons go through and analyse each piece of evidence and students put together a story of what happened. It is quite simplistic and designed for primary school students or high school students with low abilities or learning difficulties. It can be an easy and fun unit of work for average to high ability students too. It links easily with the Year 8 and 9 Civics and Citizenship curriculum (Australia). My students enjoyed this unit of work at the end of a term.

A research and production assessment that for students learning about the Power Of People in democracy. The resource is differentiated with choices for students to showcase their strengths in the final product. Students work through the booklet which supports the inquiry process including a marking key, planning, research, and creating a poll, and drafting their final advocacy plan. Students then create the final product. I got my principal to come and judge their final products for most effective advocacy, which students loved!
