All About Me/Getting to Know Me Booklet

This is the perfect resource for your first day with a new class! Pupils can use this booklet to share some information about themselves on their first day of school in a new class with their new teacher. I have uploaded this resource as a PowerPoint, so it can be edited to suit the needs of your class! You can also add in any extra slides if required. I would recommend printing/photocopying this resource double-sided if printing it out for pupils to write/draw on. Alternatively, this PowerPoint could be uploaded to Google Classroom and the pupils can edit it digitally! I hope this is a useful resource for that very first day of meeting your new pupils :)

Picturebook QR Codes - Diversify your Libraries! (Black Lives Matter)

Picturebook QR Codes - Diversify your Libraries! (Black Lives Matter)

(39)
UPDATED VERSION In light of the Black Lives Matter movement, it is so important for teachers to create spaces in their classroom to embrace and celebrate diversity. Literature is an amazing way to do this! These QR codes link to picturebooks (being read on YouTube) which feature black characters in the forefront of the stories - boys, girls, and some famous figures! This is a cost-efficient way to introduce diverse texts in your classroom/school library - or even as a way for children to access these texts at home. However please note that you should still seek to include physical texts in your classroom which embrace diversity, as many picturebook stories rely on close analysis of the images in order to understand the messages/story being portrayed. Thank you so much for your interest in this resource and I hope it contributes to some important conversations with your pupils.

Children choose a book to read (library book or school reading book) and must take a note of the different words they find which include the sound they are learning. This could be laminated or placed in a clearboard to be used with a whiteboard pen, or used as a worksheet. This is an editable document!

Division Thinking Board

(1)
This is a resource that I created whilst on my final placement to use with a Primary 3 class. This could be used to consolidate any learning which has taken place in division, or as a starter/fast finisher task! This resource is a ‘thinking board’ for division which is split into 4 sections. Each section provides pupils with a space where they can practice different strategies for carrying out/solving a division sum: groupings number line arrays bar model The middle box is where the division sum is to be written into. I hope this resource is useful for everyone!

'3 Sharings' Reading Task Worksheet

Suggestions for use: This resource could be laminated or placed inside a clear board and be used with a whiteboard pen. It can be used with any text. Pupils can work on this individually, with other children, or can be completed as a whole class! Background: The 3 Sharings was developed by Aidan Chambers in 1994 to help learners explore different texts more deeply. You can use the 3 Sharings with a class novel, children’s reading books or as a way for children to review/suggest texts to one another. Whilst/after reading a text, children can share their: Likes and Dislikes: what parts of the texts did the child (not) enjoy and why? Puzzles: what was difficult to understand? What would the child like to know more about? Connections: how does the relate to what the child already knows? What connections can they make to their life, the life of others, the world or other texts?
