Morning slides are a great way to display information to the children for their arrival into the class. With practice, the children can become independant in getting on with their morning challange or sorting out their lunches (whatever works for your class). Giving children jobs within the classroom enables them to take some responsibility and independence in the running of their class. In my experience children enjoy helping out and take pride in their roles. The activities link with the comprehension stratagies, prior knowledge, metalinguistics, main ideas, visualisation, critical analysis, summary and inference. The activities were co-created by a colleague and I when teaching this book as part of a modeling block. Some chapters are missing. I found it important to remind the children to answer in full sentences and provide evidence where possible to back up their ideas. Encourage and celebrate kindness in your class with these cup of kindness appreciation tokens. The idea is that children take a cup, write how a classmate has been kind and then share it with them, and the class. I have laminated thr cups so they can be reused. You could also link this within your school/ class behaviour management by allowing 1 cup + explanation of how the child was kind to = X amount of points.
