Everything you need to create your own bug hotel! This lesson plan clearly presents how to easily build your own bug hotel while teaching children the importance of garden wildlife. The Bug Hotel lesson plan remains within the Forest School ethos and focuses on the social and emotional aspects of learning. The Bug Hotel lesson plan can be adapted to suit a Maths, Science or Forest School lesson. The Bug Hotel lesson plan is recommended for children in Nursery, Reception and Key Stage 1.

Also included is a Risk Assessment for having a fire and an Introduction to Forest School. This is an ideal introduction to get you on your way to confidently leading a group of children outside. The activities are designed for children from Reception up to Year 2 but they can easily be adapted for Nursery and older year groups. Please be aware, these are designed for teachers and are there to be interpreted. True Forest School does not follow lesson plans. These resources are designed to give ideas and act as a back up for the practitioner to deliver a catalyst and prompts for learning whilst being prepared to follow the children in their learning journey! Forest School should be led by the children.

Here I have planned 13 lessons in Number for year 1 maths. The planning is detailed planning including learning objectives, success criteria, teacher input and differentiated independent activities/challenges. Furthermore, the planning is in WORD to enable you to easily edit it to suit your own class/school’s planning format. Resources required from a third party (such as Twinkl) are suggested. Here we have a week of planning (5 lessons) on time. The planning is aimed at Grade 1 (Australia) or Year 2 (England). The Learning Objectives are: To tell the time on an analogue and digital clock to every 5th minute. To find the time that is earlier or later than a given time. To measure and record time. To solve word problems involving periods of time. The planning has been designed to be easily adaptable for lockdowns/home learning. This is why the whole week is on one single PowerPoint which clearly details the learning objectives, the instructions along with 3 differentiated tasks for each day. This can easily be uploaded to applications such as Seesaw for home learning. Notes are also included for the teacher where extra information is required which is not relevant for the children to see.

The Learning Objectives are: How to compare, order and find numbers on a hundred square when given their relative position. How to identify, represent and estimate numbers using a tally chart, pictogram and a number line. How to compare and order numbers using the symbols <, > and =. To identify and represent data in a Tally Chart, Bar Chart and a Pictogram How to interpret data The planning has been designed to be easily adaptable for lockdowns/home learning.
