Fully resources lesson investigating the whether America should go to war in Vietnam in 1964
Students look at the situation in Vietnam under Ho Chi Minh and the growth of the Vietminh from 1939 to 63, looking at the increasing US invovelment. They then have to act at President Johnsons adivisors to make a judgement on whether he should go to war after the Gulf of Tonkin Incident, 1964. In this judgement students weigh up evidence including DIems rule, the Domino Theory, Containment and the arguments against intervention
GCSE focus on causation, chronology, significance and second order concepts like communism/capitalism
