I am Subject Leader of Health and Social Care and BTEC Quality Nominee for two secondary schools. I am an SV and an examiner for Pearson who has been a consistently outstanding teacher. My shop provides a variety of health and social care resources for QCF, Level 2 and 3 NQF. The shop consists of assessment activities, outstanding lessons, help sheets as well as hints & tips on how to prepare students for exams as well as coursework. Resources can be edited to suit other BTECs and similar topics

This resource is an introduction to the safeguarding vulnerable adults unit (Unit 11), but can be used to inform students of safeguarding in general as it covers a variety of aspects they need to cover for any unit. The lesson was initially designed to cover an hour but can be stretched over three lessons as there a variety of activities that prepare them for the coursework - p1, p2, p3, m1 and d1. It consists of mini plenaries and differentiated learning objectives.

This resource consists of two outstanding lessons rolled into one Power Point. Lessons are designed to last for an hour each, however they can be adapted to suit 50 minutes or stretched into double lessons depending on your chosen length of activities and extension tasks. This is designed to support BTEC level 3 HSC students. However, it could also be used to inform individuals about the HSC sector in general. The lesson consists of differentiated learning outcomes based on Bloom's taxonomy, extension tasks, timings, plenaries, homework tasks, case studies and opportunities for revision for unit 1 (human lifespan) as well as unit 2 exam questions and opportunities to develop exam technique. This can be used as an example of how to structure or plan an outstanding lesson. Enjoy!

The lesson has differentiated learning aims, extension tasks and mini plenaries as opportunities to check for progress. mainly tailored for BTEC but can be used for anyone teaching a CV lesson. An outstanding and very active lesson that support P1, P2, M1 and D1 of the level 2 NQF Unit 4 criteria. This is lesson could also be used to teach a sociology lesson as it cover the impact of primary and secondary socialisation. The lesson is designed to last for an hour but can be adapted. It consists of differentiated learning outcomes, opportunities for feedback, an opportunity to plan and present a debate (teachers can use this to differentiate groups). It finishes with a current case study that prepares them for their coursework. The active element and opportunities for feedback allow a very capable but talkative class to stay consistently engaged with their learning. Enjoy

It has been designed to support students who may have no previous experience of undertaking a BTEC qualification and may therefore benefit from support and guidance regarding how to understand an assignment brief as well as hints and tips on how to associate command words with particular criteria. This lesson also supports literacy and the understanding of assessment/command words. The part two of this resource is similar but has a focus on merit and distinction criteria. The resource can also support NQTs or teachers who have not previously taught BTECs. Enjoy!

It is mainly aimed at KS4 but KS5 students find it useful also. This is an outstanding lesson that explores the health and social care values that underpin practice. The lesson specifically focuses on mainly confidentiality. The lesson is designed to last an hour but can be adapted. It consists of; differentiated learning outcomes, mini plenaries , video clips, case studies, extension tasks and other activities that help stretch and challenge learners by providing opportunities for questioning and discussion. The lesson is based on the BTEC level 2 NQF spec for health and social care. The extension tasks can also be set for homework.

This resource has questions that support students and teachers with gaps in knowledge associated with the development of fine and gross motor skills across the infancy and early childhood life stage. The assessment should last approx. 50 minutes. marks 44 The answers are included to support teaching. The assessment supports with identifying the level of content and understanding required for the unit 1 level 3 assessment. The questions test students on understanding of key terms which help to develop literacy as well as fine and gross motor skills across life stages.

One outstanding lesson that could easily be stretched as a double lesson (2 hours) consisting of; differentiated learning outcomes, starters, plenaries, key terms and assessment question practice in preparation for coursework. The lesson introduces the concepts of nutritional health which prepare students for P1 and Task 1 on the Pearson assignment brief for Unit 19. The lesson also focuses on the eat well plate and therefore can be adapted to suit any subject introducing this topic. The lesson encourages students to research independently in preparation for the coursework research task. The lessons are planned using the Unit 19 Pearson textbook and specification for the new level 3 NQF course, Unit 1 and 2 lessons are also available, Unit 7 will shortly follow. Level 2 lessons will also be uploaded - Unit 2 and Unit 4 lessons are already available.
