In this booklet we will explore the Year 4 Shape activities. These activities are designed to meet the Year 4 Australian Curriculum Sequence of Achievement “compare areas of regular and irregular shapes using informal units”. (2022)
We will measure the area of shapes using squares and then we will measure the shape of the object using materials you have at home or in the classroom. We recommend using things such as erasers, cotton balls, paddle-pop sticks etc. Feel free to use any type of material that you like.

This pack comes with 64 cards.
16 different 2D shapes are included, for a total of 4 cards per shape.
Each set of 4 has one ‘word’ card and 3 ‘shape’ cards, that display the shape in different sizes.
This pack can be useful to learn the names and key features of shapes, such as the number of sides and corners.
Use the cards to play matching games, such as snap and memory.
Players can match based on shape, colours or size. If your focus to is to learn the names of the shapes, print out extras of the ‘word’ card.
In this booklet we will explore the Year 5 Shape activities. These activities are designed to meet the Year 5 Australian Curriculum Sequence of Achievement “connecting 3D objects to their 2D representations”. (2022)
We will revisit the names of 3D shapes, and identify which 2D shapes are used to construct 3D shapes. Then we will match 3D shapes to their net, and practice drawing different shapes and nets. Finally, we will use our newly acquired knowledge to answer problem solving questions!
A fractions wall is a perfect way to introduce the topic, assist in the understanding of equivalent fractions, or extend into adding and subtracting fractions. In this pack there are 6 different design options to choose from to help you maths your classroom aesthetic. There is even a blank option to allow your students to put in their own creative flare.
