This lesson examines the environmental opportunities found in London, with a particular focus on Urban Greening, as required within the AQA GCSE Geography curriculum. This lesson successfully uses a variety of techniques to allow pupils to gain an understanding of what urban greening is and to understand the vast array of examples of how London is implementing urban greening.

Within the lesson pupils are expected to recall information relating to the causes of wildfires, before then embarking on a Geographical Enquiry (research led) activity to determine the most severe impacts of the fires. This lesson, developed as part of a scheme of work around the 2019/2020 Australian Bushfires is examining the response to the fires on a local, national and global level. Within this lesson pupils are expected to gain an understanding of the differences between local, national, and global responses before creating a news article around the response, on all three levels to the fires.
