The learners are then asked to describe a character to a reader and guided through the process of using inference in their writing.

This is a Power Point presentation and worksheet perfect for GCSE English Language and Functional Skills Level 1- 2.
The learners are asked to act as journalists, watching a report about the Hatton Garden Gang and taking notes to locate the vital information.
The learners then get into groups of three or four and answer questions on the report. The worksheet allows the students to answer the questions on paper. The answers are provided on the Power Point.
The Power Point then asks the learners to partake in a board blast to list what they would include in a newspaper article and some answers are provided.
Finally, the learners can use some time to research the gang before creating a newspaper article on the Hatton Garden Gang appealing to the public for information on the missing suspect.

This resource includes two poems and the students are asked to read the poems and identify themes in both poems. The students are asked to compare themes in two poems. The resource looks at the symbolism of a poppy and asks the students to create a writing piece based on hope for the future. Hopefully a resource that looks at the seriousness of Remembrance Day, giving some context and ending on a positive note for the future.
It would be possible to set this resource as distant or online learning.
