I am an English teacher in Ireland with 16 years of classroom experience teaching both Junior Cycle and Leaving Certificate English at Higher and Ordinary. Working across these levels has given me extensive experience supporting students with a wide range of abilities, learning needs and confidence levels. Much of my teaching has taken place in mixed-ability classrooms, which has given me a strong understanding of SEN demands and the importance of careful scaffolding. I regularly design resources that break complex ideas into manageable steps through structured notes, writing frames, sentence starters and visual supports. These approaches help students build understanding and gradually develop the confidence to write more independently. The name 'Stone Heart Teacher' is inspired by Yeats’ line “Too long a sacrifice can make a stone of the heart,” reflecting the resilience and commitment that teaching often demands.
