SHAPE Basics

(0)
This set of shape worksheets is written and illustrated for adults and older teenagers who want to improve their basic maths skills but it is also suitable for younger age groups. The worksheets provide a gentle introduction to the properties of common 2D and 3D shapes. There is also a strong emphasis on the vocabulary associated with positions and sizes. The features of 2D shapes are explained beginning with the number of sides and corners moving on to symmetry and identifying right angles. There are simple shape patterns to be completed leading to the drawing of tessellations involving two different shapes. On the worksheets about 3D shapes there are pictures of both real objects and mathematical diagrams to identify as particular types of shape. Numbers of edges and corners have to be counted and the names of the 2D faces making up each shape are discussed . There are pages about simple rotations of shapes and measuring angles. Each worksheet comes in three versions. Monochrome, colour or on-screen completion ( answers need to be checked by a tutor ) Please review this resource and visit my TES shop and website to see similar products.

This set of percentage worksheets is written and illustrated for adults and older teenagers who want to improve their basic skills but it is also suitable for younger age groups. The worksheets give a step by step introduction to percentages as fractions out of 100, equivalent forms as fractions and decimals and methods for working out of a percentage of an amount with and without a calculator. See how to work out one number as a percentage of another and calculate the percentage change when an amount has increased or decreased. Work out the new amount after a percentage change and simple examples of doing the reverse calculationto find the original amount. There are also some VAT calculations and wherever possible the questions are set in real-life contexts. Each worksheet comes in three versions. This set of algebra worksheets is written and illustrated for adults and older teenagers who want to improve their basic skills though it is suitable for use with any age group. The worksheets give a basic introduction into using algebraic notation in expressions and formulas, substitution, simplifying and collecting like terms. Only positive numbers are used in the substitutions. There are pages about powers and brackets ( not multiplying out ). Also there are examples on multiplying and dividing simple expressions. There is an emphasis on using algebra in sensible situations too so that it makes more sense to people who may have previously been baffled. Each worksheet comes in three versions. Monochrome, colour or on-screen completion ( answers need to be checked by a tutor ) GCSE 9-1 refs A1, A2, A3, A4, A5, A7 at foundation level Please review this resource and visit my TES shop and website to see similar products. http://www.skillsheets.co.uk

Puzzles about the MEAN
SkillsheetsSkillsheets

Puzzles about the MEAN

(2)
Three pairs of worksheets with answers that are designed to help students understand the use of the mean as an average when data is added or removed from the calculation. e.g. the mean weight of 5 people is 70 kg. Another person joins the group and the mean is now 71kg. How much did the sixth person weigh. A lot of students find it hard to see that if you know the mean of a set of numbers and how many numbers there are then you can find the TOTAL of all the numbers. These questions will make them think about how they can use this idea. GCSE DfE references S4, N2 For more resources like this please visit the SKILLSHEETS Shop

Venn Diagrams - Conditional Probability

(1)
This resource comprises 7 worksheets with answers to give students confidence in dealing with sets. It is suitable for higher level GCSE students and those starting A-level statistics. There are some tough word problems that require resilience and possibly some algebra to solve. Three of the sheets focus more on conditional probabilities - the ‘given that’ type of questions that children often struggle with. The questions are worded in different ways to help learners see how sometimes the probability is being calculated out of members from a subset of the universal set. To provide revision on some basic shape properties there are two sheets about sorting triangles and quadrilaterals according to their properties.
