#### Equations with Brackets - 9 worksheets

9 worksheets containing linear equations where brackets need to be multiplied out as the first step. The sheets get progressively harder for extra practice or revision. The unknown appears on both sides of the equations. For the first worksheets the answers are all positive whole numbers but later equations have negative or fractional solutions. Students are asked to check their answers for the first worksheets by putting the solution into both sides of the original equation to make sure it works out the same. Powerpoint and Worksheet Show students how to create equivalent fractions by scaling up a simple fraction. Uses simple practical applications. Using real life data to see how 9 out of 10 scales up to 18 out of 20 and eventually 90 out of 100 thus also making a connection with percentages as special ‘out of 100’ fractions. Also the splitting of a whole into two fractions e.g. 9 out of 10 people being right-handed means 1 out of 10 people are left-handed. Percentages total 100%.
