This is a basic sheet for initial lessons in reading note names on the bass clef stave. It includes the note names at the top for reference and all the notes are within the stave. Each question spells out a word using notes in the bass clef. There is also an answer sheet! This is suitable for whole class music lessons or individual lessons for the ABRSM Grade 5 music theory examination.

A worksheet to allow students to read the note names and work out the word, then match to one of the pictures. There is also an answer sheet on the second page. This would follow my PowerPoint ‘Pitch notation basics - reading note names treble and bass clef staves’, and ‘Reading note names bass clef - basic’ and ‘Reading note names treble clef - basic’ worksheets, available separately. This should be a fun simple sheet for younger students or a quick starter for those needing some revision.

This PowerPoint shows the basics of reading rhythmic notation, starting with crotchets, quavers and minims or quarter notes, eighth notes and half notes using ‘Ta‘, ‘Ti-ti’, ‘To-e’ And introducing a crotchet or quarter note rest ‘Shh’ You can click the sound icon to hear the rhythms spoken as they are introduced, then there are a few to try by yourself!
