This is a 3 hour session (30 min delivery) designed around producing a character board based on anthropomorphism and cyberisation. Provided for free due to heavy use of illustrative images and character studys for discussion.
Preview shows an actual slide.
Each slide has speaker notes to aid delivery and the slides are a simple black theme mostly unstyled.
It is aimed at Btec Level 2 and Level 3 students on either Games Design, Concept Art or Creative courses. Would be possible to adapt for Art & Design if you included your own Learning Objectives.
This set of 99 slides will guide both teacher and student through all stages of making a simple Choose Your Own Adventure game in Adobe Animate with all files, code and resources included. It has natural break points to split into 5 sessions and uses short videos to demonstrate the code/functions working.
Total delivery time is between 6 and 10 hours with students completing each section after delivery, depending on the level and ability of student.
Preview shows an actual slide so you can see the level you’re working with.
Completed Adobe Animate files are included for each stage.
Embedded videos on slides will only play if you are in “Slideshow” mode, however they are included as separate videos if you prefer as well.
Finally, the slides are unstyled due to the heavy use of images to illustrate actions, styling may require that you reformat the entire set.
Designed to be delivered as part of a Pearson RQF BTEC level 3 in either Games Design or Computing but would suit GCSE Creative iMedia or level 4 as well.
This 2-3 hour session is based around a research and design task with 20-30 minuntes delivery maximum. Students will be identifying elements of different animals used within an existing design (Godzilla) and discussing how/why these have been chosen. Lots of options for lecturer interaction and questioning with a reasonable length differentiated task to complete.
Speaker notes on every slide so you know how to deliver.
13 slides total. Works well as a session in the “Idea Generation” series
This complete 2-3 hour session is designed to get level 2 and 3 students understanding how they can convey meaning through designs. Aimed primarily at Game Design and Creative Art students, it comes with an A4 sized drawing template (for print or digital) and a fun research/design activity that will take up the majority of the time with plenty of space for teacher intervention to check learning. The task will challenge students to convey meaning using visual elements rather than words while conducting primary research.
12 Slides with Tasks and template. Speaker notes on every slide with expectations.
Pairs well with my other Idea Generation sessions available.
WordGen is a simple program that loads a database of around 10000 words and displays 5 random ones on screen when the “Generate” button is hit. It requires no installation and is a single .exe file that can be distributed to students or displayed on your SMART board easily.
A new set of 5 words is displayed each time “Generate” is hit - the large button size should allow easy use with a touch screen or touch board and the program will work offline (without an internet connection) as the database is stored within it.
The vast majority of risqué and potentially offensive words have been manually removed from the database however there is always a possibility an inappropriate word may be generated occasionally - for this reason I would recommend use by students over the age of 12 only.
Please be aware that your organisation may block you from running .exe files due to their own policies.
The application is designed to run on Windows based Computers and has been tested on Windows 10 and Windows 7.
When extracting from the .zip file your computer may display a warning about running programs that have been downloaded from the internet, this is due to the portable nature of WordGen and it containing the database within rather than separately.
MathGen is a simple program that creates a new math problem from the 4 main types (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) using values between 1 and 1000 when the “Question” button is hit. It requires no installation and is a single .exe file that can be distributed to students or displayed on your SMART board easily if you prefer to generate a problem and then work it out with the students.
A new problem is displayed each time “Question” is hit - the large button size should allow easy use with a touch screen or touch board and the program will work offline (without an internet connection) as the database is stored within it. Hitting the “=” button solves the problem and displays the correct answer on screen.
There is an equal chance for a problem of any of the 4 types to be generated however please note DIVISION related questions are rounded to the 3rd decimal place for ease of answering (for example, 1.23456 would be 1.234).

5 minute lesson planning template I have developed over several years of teaching in FE and HE. There is far too much in the other “famous” ones than is needed for FE and HE delivery and they take much longer than 5 minutes to complete. This works well for lecture / workshop based tasks and lets you get back to the important bits of teaching with ease.
Printable A4 Template and Example provided.
This is what I use for delivery in a grade 1 OFSTED institute.
This set of slides will guide you through the basic set up and use of Youtube for education assuming no existing technical knowledge. It is displayed as step by step with pictures for everything and speaker notes to explain what is happening where required. The guide also covers both sharing your video to Microsoft Teams and what content can be downloaded from Youtube itself (with appropriate advice). 25 Sides in total.
