This is a selection of books recommended by teachers from across the UK following a 2019 event aimed at increasing diversity in the curriculum. These books have helped students, teachers, and parents understand more about cultural identity, race, and racism, as well as the power structures that uphold racial bias. It is intended as a starting point if you are interested in reading the works of BAME authors and/or if you are seeking to learn more about the reasoning behind the recent Black Lives Matter protests.
