Introduction to A'Level French
Would you like to give your future A’Level French students something to do after they finish their GCSE exams? Would you like them to start looking at the different topics covered? This interactive PowerPoint will allow them to do that, in their own time and at their own pace. Lots of videos and articles to get their teeth into with links to exercises, Francophone TV series and films and music artist suggestions, as well as links to news outlets. This PowerPoint covers the film “La Haine” and the book “No et Moi”, but these slides are easily changeable.

A'Level Spanish Complete Set of Revision Mats
Complete set of 36 revision mats, covering the 12 units of the whole AQA A’Level Spanish curriculum. Titles such as “La Influencia de la Iglesia Católica”, “La Inmigración Legal en España” or “La Efectividad de las Huelgas” make up this complete set. Each colourful revision mat contains several questions posed to the students, each of them with a set of prompts to aid in the developing of an answer, but also to guide them on their independent research of the topic. Carefully selected pictures help the students to retain information. Though these mats are created for revision, they can also be used in conversation with an FLA or as part of the lesson.
A'Level Spanish Revision Mats
Set of 18 colourful revision mats, covering the 6 last units of the AQA A’Level Spanish curriculum (year 13): La Inmigración, El Racismo, La Convivencia, Jóvenes de hoy: Ciudadanos de mañana, Monarquías y Dictaduras, y Los Movimientos Sociales. Each revision mat contains a minimum of 3 questions posed to the students, each of them with a set of prompts to aid in the developing of an answer. Pictures help with the visual learning. La Tauromaquia
ppt to support the teaching and study of the topic “La Tauromaquia”, from the AQA Spanish A’Level Y12 Theme 2 Unit 5 “La Identidad Regional”. In this ppt we look at the history of tauromaquia, the different varieties of tauromaquia, such as corridas de toros, encierros, rejoneos and recortadores and we end by exploring both sides of the bullfighting debate. We do all this with the aid of links to articles and videos both in English and in Spanish. It does not contain any graphic video. Please notice that this ppt does not contain excercises, but instead a set of questions to prompt thought and debate.
La Gastronomía Española
ppt to support the teaching and study the topic of “La Gastronomía”, from the AQA Spanish A’Level Y12 Theme 2 Unit 5 “La Identidad Regional”. In this ppt we look at how the geography and climate of Spain affect the variety of produce, we learn about the different regional gastronomies, we understand what la dieta mediterránea is and we learn about tapas and pintxos, aperitivos and sobremesas. All this aided by links to videos in both Spanish and English. Please notice that this ppt does not contain any practical excercises, but focuses instead on the content of this topic. Christmas Quiz
A set of 2 Christmas quiz, one more challenging, for advanced students, and an easier version. A quiz with a twist. We all know Spain celebrates Christmas a bit differently to the UK, but, did you know these more obscure facts? The important part of this activity is the discussion of the answers, as not many will be able to get them right. You might want them to do a bit of research first, but make sure you allow time to watch the videos and learn about these more unknown Christmas traditions.

Y12 Theme 1 Unit 1 "La Religión Católica y las Fiestas"
ppt to aid the teaching and study of the social aspects of the content of AQA Spanish A’Level Y12 Theme 1 Unit 1 “Los Valores Tradicionales y Modernos”. In this ppt we look at general aspects of Spanish fiestas, and then we learn about a variety of Spanish and Latin-American festivities, both of Christian and pagan origins, through text, video links (in English and Spanish) and questions posed to encourage further research and conversation.
Back to Basics Intervention course
This resource was created as a 6 lessons Spanish intervention course for those students who failed to grasp the basics, or those who have joined a class half way through the year. The 6 15 minutes lessons are: 1/6 “Nouns and Articles”, 2/6 “Adjectives”, 3/6 “Conjugating Verbs”, 4/6 “Present Tense”, 5/6 “Near Future Tense” and 6/6 “Opinions & Reasons”. Y13 Theme 4 Unit 4 "Su sociedad ideal"
ppt to aid the teaching and study of the social aspects of the content of AQA Spanish A’Level Y13 Theme 4 Unit 4 “Jóvenes de hoy, ciudadanos de mañana”. In this ppt we look at different issues that worry Spanish young citizens, and how their lives would be in an ideal world. We learn about the right of emancipation, the environment, volunteering, freedoms and “la Ley Mordaza”, and finally, how youngster are preferring to spend their money on experiences rather than material goods. We do this through questions to encourage discussion of the topic, and links to articles in Spanish, to help us understand youngsters’ ideal world. This ppt also includes a link to a relevant quizlet owned by the author.
Y13 Theme 4 Unit 6 "El poder de los sindicatos"
ppt to aid the teaching and study of the social and historical aspects of the content of AQA Spanish A’Level Y13 Theme 4 Unit 6 “Movimientos Sociales”. In this ppt we look at what are “Sindicatos”. We also look at the three main trade unions in Spain, CC.OO. UGT and USO. We then look at the right of strike and, in particular, “las huelgas generales”. Finally we have a look at “El Dia Internacional de los Trabajadores”. We do this through questions to encourage discussion of the topic, and links to videos and articles, all in Spanish, to help us understand the topic of trade unions in Spain.
Spanish A'Level La Guerra Civil Española/Spanish Civil War
ppt to aid the teaching and study of the Guerra Civil Española. In this ppt we have a look at what led to the Civil War, the War itself, the main protagonists, the two sides, the bombing of Gernika, the foreign help and the human and financial costs. We do this through links to videos and articles, both in English and Spanish, as well as summaries of main facts and information. Though this topic can be taught at any point during the AQA Spanish A’Level, it particularly fits within the Y13 Theme 4 Unit 5 "Monarquías y Dictaduras”, as it explains an important episode in the history of Spain which led to the dictatorship of General Franco.

ppt to aid the teaching and study of the social and historical aspects of the content of AQA Spanish A’Level Y13 Theme 3 Unit 3 “La Convivencia”. In this ppt we look at “el separatismo vasco” and ETA’s terrorism. We also look at “el nacionalismo catalan” and the 2017 referendum. Set of 4 ppts to aid the teaching and learning of the AQA A’Level Spanish Y13 Theme 3 Multiculturalism in Hispanic Society, Unit Unit 3 “La Convivencia”. The different ppts explore how Islamism, Christianism and Judeism cohabited in the Iberian peninsula from the 8th to the 15th centuries, and how that peaceful cohabitation came to an end with the arrival of Los Reyes catolicos. Secondly we learn about the integration of migrant children in Spanish schools.
