A colour-coded revision mat describing the reactions of alkanes, alkenes, alcohols, carboxylic acids and esters.
A blank grid for students to complete for reactants, products, conditions, displayed formulae and uses of each substance named in the specification as well as a completed “teacher” version.
A double sided sheet meant for A3 - gap fills and then a series of varied tasks to complete. Independent revision if you want - also has a version with completed answers.
No past questions but a range of activities which cover the whole social influence topic for OCR GCSE. Done over two lessons with three classes of Y10 - varying ability and it worked well.
Can either be worked through as a class or given as a free choice activities depending on how much guidance your class need.
This is a multi-part, interactive lesson where students work to solve a crime. They are given a wide range of highly detailed clues, as well as revision questions that cover the entire topic with good depth. They are expected to work in groups to come to a conclusion justified by their psychological knowledge from the topic. Included is;
-An interactive powerpoint, complete with starter, instructions, detailed ‘clues’, click through conclusions
Teacher instructions
A set of over 44 in depth questions to work on in groups, clearly signposted for each section of the forensics topic and linked directly to the clues provided to solve the crime.
This is a great task for any ability level - lower ability will benefit from talking through answers in a group setting and covering a broad range of information, whilst high ability students will be stretched in their critical thinking and putting together information to form conclusions.
Updated for the 2021 Spec.
Applied psych Unit 1 Approaches and Assumptions learning aim A
My students asked for a summary powerpoint of each approach/assumptions for LAA. They found this useful.
This is for the new spec so there are no key studies, but at least two evaluation points for each approach.
A double sided worksheet / gap fill for Chomsky and Piaget’s theories of language acquisition and cognitive development respectively, with criticisms and outline of each.
There is a word search which comprises of the words that need to be used for the gap fill - start with this.
I then played a video which outlines each concept, and the students used that combined with the words from the wordsearch to complete the sheet.
Completed examples also included.
For current spec (2021-)
Gender revision mat that includes the necessary key terms for students to fill in as revision. I get mine to make up a name and apply each term to that person to get them in the habit of applying concepts.
A revision powerpoint that works through all of the advance information listed for the OCR GCSE Psychology exam summer 2022, for Criminal Psychology topic. Useful either as independent work or to go through as a class.
A simple revision mat for students to fill out for revision for the aggression topic (new spec version). I make them write the notes in as if they’re applying it to a person to practice this skill for the exam.
i.e: “Joey’s aggression could be explained by hostile attribution bias. This means…”
A very broken down lesson to introduce students to relative atomic mass and relative formula mass, with a worksheet to practice this included. A mark scheme to the worksheet is included.
I have used this with foundation and triple science classes alike.
This is the FULL topic for C4 AQA GCSE.
Lessons include a combined and a triple version where relevant, all worksheets, tech lists, end of topic test and DIRT lesson and is fully TEEP structured. This has been extremely successful for subject non-specialists and specialists alike to use - it is very broken down and has been great for lower ability sets as well as triples for teaching the dreaded moles!
Whole topic for Bio 4 - Organisms, based on Activate KS3 SOW, but good generally. TEEP lessons, tech lists etc included, and an end of unit test and DIRT.
