Looking for a scheme of work which covers everything in this topic? Look no further - this has been created by myself as I was tired of using out of date / inaccurate resources. This is a FULL scheme of work for the topic Urban Issues and Challenges - it is based on the AQA GCSE specification. It has been created from scratch and includes a total of 15 lessons, a FREE AQA knowledge organiser which has been adapted to include the relevant case studies (Lagos and Liverpool), and a formative assessment. Each lesson has a challenge question as its title, tasks throughout, retrieval practice at the start of each lesson, a starter, main and plenary. There is a lot of exam practice, with AQA exam styled questions in most of the lessons. All the lessons come with worksheets and PowerPoint - the lessons are fully adaptable to your requirement - and will approximately last 1 hour. The lessons were originally created on Google Slides / Google Docs, and have since been converted to Microsoft Powerpoint / Word for you when you download them. The CGP Geography revision guide (2020) has been used alongside the creation of these lessons. A breakdown of each lesson are as follows: Lesson 1 - To explain what urbanisation is. Lesson 2 - To analyse the factors as to why people want to live in urban areas. Lesson 3 - To describe where Lagos is, and to understand why it is an important city. Lesson 4 - To outline the opportunities and challenges which Lagos faces. Lesson 5 - To analyse the environmental issues in Lagos. Lesson 6 - To explore the ways in which Lagos has managed urban growth. Lesson 7 - To examine how urban areas have changed in the UK. Lesson 8 - To justify the importance of Liverpool, and describe the location. Lesson 9 - To examine how urban change has brought opportunities to Liverpool. Lesson 10 - To examine how urban change has brought social and economic challenges to Liverpool. Lesson 11 - To examine how urban change has created environmental challenges in Liverpool. Lesson 12 - To explain what urban sprawl is, and the impacts it has. Lesson 13 - To analyse a regeneration project - Anfield, Liverpool. Lesson 14 - To explore ways in which urban living can be made more sustainable (Curitiba, Brazil). Lesson 15 - To outline ways in which traffic can be managed in urban areas (Curitiba, Brazil). Also included: Knowledge Organiser and a formative assessment.

I have created a knowledge organiser for the topic ‘Sustainable Citizen’. The Knowledge Organiser is based on the following lessons: What is sustainability? / Greenhouse Effect / Antarctica / Plastic Pollution / Food / Fashion / Energy / Water and the Olympics. It can be adapted to your requirement, as there is a PowerPoint and PDF version when you download the resource. The knowledge organiser is two pages. The knowledge organiser is mainly for use by KS3, as this is a topic I am currently teaching to Year 7, however can be used for other KS3 year groups.
