A blank grid for students to use to create their own wordsearches. This works great as cover work and is also useful to have for students who struggle drawing grids.

This is a checklist which links to merits. Students check off when they have said a phrase e.g. ‘j’ai fini’. When they have 5 ticks they receive 5 merits. This has worked really well in my KS3 groups. They have it printed off and stuck in their exercise books. It has created a bit of a buzz with using the target language in lessons! :-)

A grid with phrases in past, present and future tenses. Phrases are activities people can do to protect the environment. Students need to fill in the gaps, using the other phrases to help them. The options for the gap fill can be printed on the back of the sheet for support. Ideal as a starter to practise the tenses.

The first activity is partner work where students need to ask questions to be able to complete a timetable. Students then need to write sentences to describe the parts of the timetable which are highlighted. Students really enjoy this activity.

A reading which practises clothes and opinions. It also introduces the students to more complex sentence starters e.g. ‘Normally I wear’ and ‘I would like to wear’. It is useful for students to complete before writing their own paragraphs on clothes. It would also be useful for cover.

This word search requires the students to translate the sentences and then find them in French in the word search. It is ideal for revising the topic of friends and descriptions. It would also be perfect for cover work.

A booklet with 24 photo cards which cover all 3 themes for the AQA specification. Photo cards include Higher and Foundation questions so that they can be used with mixed ability groups. The booklet includes a table of example teacher questions too.

Students need to extract information from a written text and a timetable in order to answer a set of true or false questions. There is also a translation activity as an extension (this is why there are lines under each statement). The worksheet would be a good scaffolding activity to support students with describing their own timetables.

A full lesson which exploits an authentic German song called 'Das Fliegerlied'. This lesson is perfect for the end of term or as a revision of animals and adjectives. It also allows students to practise their dictionary skills. My students have always really enjoyed singing and dancing along with the music!

This is a reading text which can be used to consolidate or revise the topic of clothes and school uniform. The text includes adjective endings, conjunctions and 'ich möchte'. It is a useful resource either as part of a lesson or as cover work. It could also be used as a scaffolding activity for students to write their own text.

A full lesson which teaches using gern, lieber and am liebsten with the topic of food. It includes a snakes and ladders game which can be played as a whole class or in teams. There is a support slide for this for less able students.

My students love playing this board game on the topic of Taschengeld/Argent de poche. There are loads of ways of playing it but here are a couple! 1. Students work in groups of 2 or 3. They take it in turns to roll the dice. Students must say a sentence to describe what they have landed on. It is the first person to get to the end of the board game. 2. Students work in groups of 2 or 3. They are given a certain about of play money e.g. 100 euros. They must say a sentence to describe what they land on. If they land on a money square, they pick up this amount of money from the 'banker'. If it is a spending square, they must give that amount of money to the 'banker'. It is the person with the most money at the end of the game that wins.

This crossword makes a brilliant starter to revise or teach jobs and careers. My students have always really enjoyed the challenge! It is also great for cover work. There is some support for weaker students at the bottom of the second page.

A staged worksheet which practises the use of relative clauses with the topic of Family. I have used this with lots of groups, ranging from year 7 to GCSE.

A reference sheet with useful phrases to signpost opinions in German writing and speaking. They have been split into their effect on the word order. It could be laminated and kept in the classroom, printed off for students' books or displayed. My students often refer back to this sheet when speaking and writing in order to help extend their ideas and to make their opinions clear. Using these also helps improve their mark for Range of Structures.

A class set of Quiz Quiz Trade cards to practise digital time in German. How Quiz Quiz Trade works: Every student gets a card. They get up and find a partner. They then ‘quiz’ their partner by reading out an English sentence for them to translate. Once both partners have done a translation, they swap cards and find another partner. The answer is on the cards so students can check that they are right. I like to give students a certain amount of time and for them to see how many conversations they can have in that time.
