Simply entitled ‘Duty’, this is a short (text on 1 side of A4) reading comprehension with 6 accompanying questions (10 marks available).
Ideal for a half hour reading exercise to hone skills in:
retrieval
inference
word comprehension
comparative language (simile)
Answers are included for ease of marking and available in both Word documents and PDF formats for online learning.
Task that asks pupils to interpret data about the performance of football teams and then place 10 teams into a league table based on the information provided.
They will need to works systematically and use the following maths skills:
ordering
addition
multiplication
subtraction
finding the difference
use negative numbers in context
copy and place data into a table correctly
work logically and systematically
Task can be differentiated by changing expectation of what you wish pupils to do - e.g. you might just ask children to order the teams and simply provide their total points. Greater depths could be asked to fill the whole table with minimal support.
The cover page contains a couple of tips but this is down to the teacher to discretion as to how much support ‘tips’ they wish to provide.
Problem solving task to stretch children working at either expected levels or greater depth.
This can be done either as a group, partnered or individual exercise and gives a workout of the following skills:

application of skills - where and when to apply a certain operation
Some aspects of task may require some support from an adult or more able peer - particularly at the lower end of y5.

A reading comprehension exercise consisting of 4 passages of text and two 3 mark questions accompanying each.
The exercise is designed to help children infer from evidence given in the next when meaning is not always directly described. The task can be carried out independently, as a group guided session or whole class exercise.

A mean average word problem task with two levels of differentiation. Basic finding the mean and a second sheet incorporating more challenging problems.

For the two short, a question is also included that includes fractions and giving a fractional answer (this will involve adding fractions with different denominators and finding the average of the result).
This worksheet is available in both Word and PDF formats and can be given out in class as part of a plenary, main activity or for online learning.
3 Differentiated Grids of words (20 in each) that are often spelled incorrectly.
Children start off with a number points and lose 10, 100 or 1000 points for each incorrect spelling they have circled (number of points lost depends on the difficulty of the challenge).
Lower Ability will start on 200 points and focuses mostly on short/frequently used words that are often seen to be spelled incorrectly.
Middle Ability will start with 2000 points.
Higher Ability (more challenging content) start with 20,000 points.
Task is ideal for a starter challenge - at the beginning of the school day or English/literacy.

A reading comprehension resource suitable for years 5 and 6. The story is a four page short spooky storyin keeping with the Halloween time of year. The reading paper is accompanied by a 2 page comprehension that has a mixture of questions ranging from inference, retrieval, true/false and fact/opinion.
The text can be used for either group guided reading, whole class guided reading or individual independent reading. It is also a good resource in that its questioning is aligned to the style found in year 6 reading SAT papers.
